Sophia
Iwatch Kaleb's retreating form, shocked into a frozen state after everything he's just said and wondering why he's so adamant about wanting me. Jaylen breaks me out of my daze by running across the pebbled driveway with a face full of concern.
"Are you okay? What did he say?"
"I'm fine," I tell him, shaking my head and looking around, trying to clear the fog from my brain. "He, uh, he just told me that he'd like to know where we are at all times, that's all."
Jaylen frowns as his eyes examine my face.
"He didn't say anything else in the two whole minutes that you were out here with him?"
I shake my head and quickly look away from him, pulling open the back door of the car and collecting some of the bags.
"I find that very hard to believe," he scoffs. I shrug in answer to his comment and then slam the door shut.
"I'll take these upstairs. Are you okay to bring the rest?"
"Yeah. Myra also told me that your mum and Jess arranged for some of your stuff to be brought over here whilst we were out,so you've got some bags and boxes in your room to sort out," he tells me, rounding the car to grab some of the shopping bags.
I hurry into the house and make my way to my room, completely oblivious of my surroundings as my mind spins and replays every word that Kaleb said.
My heart pounds inside my chest and my skin feels hot as I remember the feel of his breath skating across my neck when he leant his head on my shoulder.
I burst into my room, place the bags on my bed and pull my phone out of my pocket, quickly dialling Jess' number as I slam my bedroom door shut.
"Please tell me you're not busy, and you can come round to Jericho's house. I need a distraction and maybe some alcohol so that I can stop thinking for a few hours," I rush out as soon as the line connects.
"Woah, how bad was the shopping trip?" she asks, chuckling slightly.
"Don't even get me started on that," I sigh, sitting on the floor and leaning back against the door. "The shopping itself was actually really good and I got a lot of things for my room, but then after that, someone started following us and I'm pretty sure they were adamant about running us off the road, so I had to call Kaleb and get advice on how to get away otherwise I'm pretty sure Jaylen and I would be dead right now."
"What!" she shouts.
"Thankfully, he was actually really helpful and we managed to lose them, but then when we got back to Jericho's, he almost ripped the door off the car just to ask me if I was okay, and then somehow we were alone and he was leaning against me and whispering all sorts of delusional things to me about me being his and how he doesn't care that I'm married to Jericho," I ramble on, breathing heavily as I try to tell her everything as quickly as I can before she interrupts me.
"Now I'm locked in my room and I'm annoyed, as well as feeling all hot and bothered, even though I should probably be really freaked out right now and my mind is spinning, Jess. I don't even know if anything I've said is making sense."
"Okay, that was a heap of information right there. Urm, I'm not even sure what to say, Soph. I mean, I agree that you should probably be freaked out, but I'm not surprised that you're not. You and Kaleb have a lot of chemistry and although you've slept together already, I can imagine that there's a lot of sexual tension between you. Maybe that's why you're all hot and bothered over his possessiveness instead of being freaked out like a normal person."
"Jesus Christ, you sound just like him," I breathe, shaking my head in disbelief. "There is no chemistry between us."
"Honey, I saw how you two danced together that night at the club. I saw the way he looked at you and I know how much you enjoyed that night. You can't fool me and tell me there's no chemistry between you."
I groan and bang my head against the door, hating the fact that she's speaking facts.
"I don't know what I'm meant to do in this situation, Jess. This is so screwed up."
"Well, I wish I could come drink with you, but I honestly don't want to step foot in that house, so I'll support you from afar. What I can suggest though, is maybe taking the edge off."
"I swear to God, Jess, if you suggest that I should go and fuck Kaleb, I'll hang up on you."
"Okay, that was actually going to be one of my suggestions, but I knew you wouldn't go for it," she says, laughing down the phone. "My other suggestion is that you run a bath, search through the bags I had sent over, find the one with a sleek pink box in it, and go have some fun to try and distract yourself."
I frown and scan the amass of bags and boxes scattered across the room.
"Jess, there's about fifteen bags in my room."
"See, you can start running your bath and then busy yourself with the task of finding the vibrator. Sounds like a good plan, doesn't it?"
