Page 9 of Bound By Secrets

I will get you out of this. I promise you I will! It's just going to take time.

Love, Mum

At this point, we have a theory that Mum's secret may be that I'm not my father’s biological child.

Cameron has made many comments over the years that make me positive that I have a different dad and the twins assume that that's why my father has handed me over to Fraser as some sort of retribution towards my mother. Uncle Johnny has never told us anything regarding my mother since that letter and neither has Jasmine, not that we ever really have the chance to speak to either of them much anyway.

We also assume that no evidence has been found and this detective may have given up on helping us.

Chapter Five

Nate

The bell rings and everyone stands, gathering their things, ready to file out of the room and join the chaotic hallway rush. I shrug my backpack onto my shoulders as Kat talks to the girl we met yesterday at the introduction.

She’s wearing a long-sleeved top that's moulded to her body, showing off her slim waist and little rounded, perky tits. Her jeans are skin-tight, and I take time to admire her strong, sculpted legs, thick thighs, and wide hips. She's painfully beautiful, and if I stare at her any longer, I'm going to have a semi for the rest of the day. I shake my head to break myself from the trance that her body has me in.

"Kat, I'm gonna head to English and try to find Brad, I'll see you later on?" She nods and carries on walking, waving goodbye as she exits the classroom.

"Did you say you're headed to English?" My head whips around to face the girl with the soft, angelic voice. She's looking up at me with those gorgeous, piercing eyes, and it causes me to get all tongue-tied, so I offer her a nod instead of words, probably looking like a tomato because I can feel my cheeks heating up from having her attention on me.

She beams up at me, a broad smile taking over her face. "Great, I'm heading there too. Mind if I walk with you?" she asks, looking nervous.

I nod, maybe too enthusiastically, and mutter 'sure' about three times.

God, this girl is doing things to me. I've never been so flustered by a girl’s presence in my life. It’s kind of unnerving and no doubt making me look like a fool.

She walks beside me as we navigate through the corridors, her head only just about reaching up to my shoulder. It makes me feel protective of her and I scan the halls, making sure we take a path where no one will bump into her. Her head is constantly on a swivel, watching every single person, analysing them, making sure she's aware of her surroundings... Strange.

"Nathaniel!" My head drops in an attempt to hide, which is hard being 6ft3, and I groan in annoyance when I hear that shrieking voice call out my name. My steps quicken. Callie glances over at me and matches my faster pace before she turns her head to search the people's faces behind us. She looks back at me and then behind again before she moves closer to my side, her fingers brushing against mine.

"So, is the blonde banshee calling your name the reason for the speed walk that we're doing right now? Psycho ex or something?"

"Something like that, yeah." She glances back over her shoulder again and then back to me.

"She's gaining on us. I think we might have to run. How far is our English class?" I laugh at her suggestion and then take my own gaze behind us. Stephanie is about two metres away with only a few other students separating us. Oh fuck, I really can't deal with her right now.

"It's just up this corridor and to the right, let's go, quick!" I say. She immediately starts jogging through the corridor with me right at her heels. She laughs as we round the corner, and the sound has my heart skipping a beat.

We rush into our classroom, quickly taking a seat at the back, chuckling as she takes a notebook out of her handbag and a couple of pens.

I vow to myself in that moment that I will always do whatever it takes to see this goddess laugh. It’s the most beautiful thing that's ever blessed my eyes. She's breathtakingly stunning, her plump lips stretched wide, cheeks bunched up and flushed, and her eyes gleaming with delight.

"That was fun."

"Yeah, sorry about that. I've been avoiding her for months, but that girl can't take a hint." The chair on the other side of me scrapes along the floor as it's pulled out and I turn to see Brad plonking himself onto it, his head hitting the desk as he lets out a deep sigh. "Hey dude, you alright?" A little concerned at his more-than-usual frustrated self this morning. He nods, his head still resting against the desk.

"Right, sure," I sarcastically bite out. His head snaps up and he levels me with a deadly glare before looking in the direction of Callie and then back at me.

"Are you jealous that I'm laughing with someone else and not you?" I tease, digging my knuckles into his side. He shakes his head at me but his lips tilt upward.

"You're such a dick." A gruff chuckle leaves him and then he sits himself upright. "Stephanie ambushed me in the hallway and wouldn't get out of my face, asking about you and then questioning me about some new girl. You know I don't deal with that girl well. She makes my head hurt and her voice grates on me." I laugh again and clap my hand down on his shoulder.

"Sorry dude. That was my fault. She called my name, and Callie suggested we run. I didn't know you'd get caught up in it. Apologies." He gives me a stiff nod.

"Don't do it again, otherwise I'll tell her that you're madly in love with her and you've bought a ring to propose.” He ignores my pained expression at his juvenile threat and leans forward, his gaze roaming over Callie sitting next to me, she's looking back at him with a timid smile.

"Hey, sweetheart. I'm Brad."
