Page 32 of No Bones About It

“Not one damn bit.”

So she moved again. And again.

Garrett’s hands held her close, but he let her set the pace, let her find the rhythm and the angle. It didn’t take long before her body started spiraling again.

Garrett picked up the pace and reached one hand up to tweak her nipples. Chanting his name, she flew over the edge again. He shouted her name and followed her.

This time, when her senses started working again, Kimi found herself sprawled over Garrett while he held her close and brushed his fingers lightly over her skin.

The absurdity of the entire situation hit her, and she clamped her lips together. Beneath her, Garrett tensed. “You okay?”

She nodded and drew in a breath to control her reaction, but it was ridiculous.

“Kimi?”

The obvious concern in his voice had her opening her mouth toanswer, but a giggle popped out instead. “Sorry.” But that ended with another giggle, and then she was full-on laughing.

She felt his returning chuckle rumble through her body, and his hand returned to tracing designs on her skin.

She kissed his chest. “I can’t believe we just did that.”

Another chuckled rumbled, igniting her body again. “I know. I’m on the wrong side of thirty to be having sex in a truck. Still not complaining, though. That was amazing.Youare amazing.”

She finally managed to lift her head. “It was. But I think we need to try a bed next time.”

He raised his head and kissed her. “Deal. Hang on.”

He maneuvered the seat back into a normal position and wrapped his arms around her in a hug. They stayed there for a few moments before he spoke. “Okay, let’s get you inside.”

It took a few moments to find the tissues, deal with the condom, and then gather all their clothes. She slipped her feet back into her hiking boots but didn’t bother putting her panties or leggings back on. Her shirt was long enough to cover the essentials.

Garrett closed the door and handed her the keys, groaning when he realized she’d only half dressed. Grinning, she patted his naked chest. “I feel the same.”

When she reached for the door, he put out his hand to stop her. “The chances of them following and finding us are almost zero, but I’m not taking a chance with you. Wait here.”

Before she could protest that it was her property and she was perfectly capable of checking it, he slipped out the door. He was back less than a minute later. “It’s me. All clear.”

The fear tried to crawl back inside her, but she shoved it down. They were safe. Still, she took his hand and led him to her cottage. When they were inside, he did a quick sweep of the interior before letting her go further than the back door.

When he holstered his gun, she sighed. “Nothing like a dose of reality to kill the mood.”

His grin took in her half-dressed state. “Nothing can kill the mood when you’re around.”

But he looked over at the clock on her stove and sighed. “Okay, the sun will be up in a couple of hours. Enough time for a bit of sleep.”

She kicked off her boots and took his hand again. “Care to join me?”

“Couldn’t keep me away.”

“I’m sure we can find some way to spend the time.”

He leaned down and tossed her over his shoulder. “Idea number one, coming up.”

CHAPTER 12

Close To The Bone

Waking with Kimi snuggled in his arms made up for the lack of sleep. He figured they’d maybe caught an hour before they’d risen to tend the animals. They’d showered and checked all the animals together. The menagerie was mostly self-sufficient but appreciated human company.
