I nod, sticking out my left hand rather shakily as I wipe away the tears.

“What’s that?” He asks.

“Yes,” I whisper.

“I still can’t hear you.” He sighs, a playful grin on his face. I roll my eyes, pulling Dominic up to stand and place my mouth near his ear.

“Yes!” I yell, watching my mate jump back and wince. Good. Werewolf hearing is both a blessing and a curse.

“Okay, you don’t need to yell.” Dominic chuckles, sliding the ring onto the fourth finger of my left hand before sealing our engagement with a kiss.

We may not know what lies ahead with all that has happened in the past few weeks, but as long as we stay together, there will always be hope.

Chapter 23 – Wedding Bell Surprises

I smile at myself in the mirror. My wedding dress flows around me as I smooth the materials out. A kick against my hand brings my attention to my protruding stomach, feeling my babies move around inside me. Abby had already left once she made sure I’m all dressed and ready to go, saying she would send Blue and Zack upstairs. My red hair is twisted into an intricate updo, atop which a crown made with autumn leaves holds the veil in place. A knock on the door brings me from my thoughts, with Blue and Zack stepping inside with smiles on their faces.

"Amberle, you look beautiful." Blue gasps. Zack looks like he’s holding back tears. I can see the pride in my brother's eyes, his deep blue gaze exactly like mine, watering.

"Zack?" I question gently.

"I wish mom and dad were here to see this." He says, crossing the room and hugging me, careful not to ruin my wedding dress, hair, and makeup, knowing full well that Abby, Avery, and Lease would kill him for ruining all their hard work. I felt tears fall onto my shoulders, knowing my brother is crying. I struggle to fight back my own tears.

"Is that mom's wedding set?" My brother questions as Blue offers both of us a tissue to dry our eyes. Zack takes a closer look at the sapphire and white gold jewellery set that included chandelier earrings, wrist cuffs, and a delicate chain with a teardrop-shaped pendant. Dominic had proposed to me with his mother's wedding band, a tradition in his family as the ring is a family heirloom. When I saw the sapphire in the middle, I knew I just had to use my mother's jewellery from her own wedding. That same day, I gave Dominic a ring as well, a white gold band with its own sapphire inlaid that, when we held our hands side by side, matched the ring he proposed to me with.

"Yes, it is. I have all of their things still, if you want to go through it and pick out a few items for you, Abby, and the pups later." I answer, offering my brother a chance to have something from our parents. I see the gratitude in his eyes and a sad smile on his face.

"I'm glad. I never wanted to burn the house down. Maybe after your honeymoon, I can come over, and we can go through mom and dad's things." Zack agrees, giving me another hug.

Over the past eight and a half months, Zack and I have grown closer. There were nights the two of us spent outside, feet in the pool, while he talked about the things Mia had him do. He did it out of guilt of not being able to save our parents and keep our family whole. It took us a while to get back into our sibling relationship, but it also felt nice having him here. Aby and I grew closer together, with her and the pups coming around to help clean my house and decorate the nursery while Dominic and Zack took care of pack business.

"Well, you two, enough being sappy and sentimental right now. If we don’t leave, we’ll be late for your wedding, Amberle." Blue calls out, already in the hallway. This breaks the sombre atmosphere and causes me to laugh. Blue is right, though. He and Zack help me down the stairs and into the limo before climbing in after me. My bouquet of flowers rests beside me on the seat as butterflies flutter in my stomach. Or maybe it's the twins kicking.

The theme was simple: fire and ice, matching mine and Dom's wolves and our nicknames for each other. My flowers were a mix of colours that closely resembled a burning fire and frosty ice in winter. I decided on making two bouquets out of fake flowers, as one was for me to keep and one to throw into the crowd. Both were identical, and both will be carried down the aisle with me to put in some wedding luck for the lucky she-wolf who catches it.

The limo finally stops in front of the quiet stone church we decided on. Zack and Blue exit first, with Blue taking my flowers from me before Zack helps me to exit the car. The best thing about being pregnant is the glow. The worst is being unable to get in and out of vehicles.

"Can't wait for the twins to be born so that I can do normal stuff again." I joke, getting a chuckle from the two men. I take my flowers in hand, and just as the door opens, the wedding march sounds. Walking down the aisle towards my mate, I couldn't help tearing up, seeing tears in Dominic's eyes as well. The preacher starts the typical marriage speech, the one about the Goddess blessing mates to live a long and fruitful life, causing me to zone out.

"Who gives this woman away?"

"We do." Blue and Zack say in unison, stepping back so that I could place my hand in Dominic's outstretched hand. The preacher continues, and we say our vows, the I do’s and finally, my favourite part.

"I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your bride." The preacher finally announces as I feel Dominic lean in and pull me into a passionate kiss, the crowd once again cheering and hooting.

"Save it for the bedroom!" Concra yells out, causing me to pull away and laugh.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Dominic and Amberle DeValorse." The crowd cheers once again, and we make our way back up the aisle, into the limo, and back to the pack house where the wedding party is in full swing.

Our first dance is slow, with my clumsy pregnant body trying its best to sway to the music, making for a good laugh between Dominic and I. The party is in full swing after that, my friends and family in the pack celebrating. By midnight, though, I’m ready to go home. With a big yawn, Dominic and I say goodnight to everyone before he drives us home. We were just getting ready for bed when I start to feel like I’m peeing myself, a puddle of water collecting beneath my feet.

"What’s wrong?" Dominic's voice is laced with worry and I just stared at him for a moment before realization settles in.

"Get the pack doctor up and get the car and our bags," I say with a slight whimper.

"Why?"

"The babies are freaking coming!" I almost yell.
