Page 63 of Her Males

“I appreciate the offer, but I won’t ask for that. If my males don’t take me back, I’d love to spend my remaining years with my mother,” I admit, hoping she doesn’t take offense to my rejection of her kind offer.

I understand losing Gray and Silas is the consequence of my actions.

“I’m sure I can arrange for that,” Mammon says, gesturing for me to stand. Her eyes travel down my frame. “We need to find you something better-fitting for our meeting later.”

GRAY

SILAS GROANS AS I unwrap my arm from his waist. He snatches my wrist and drags it back over the top of him, and I smile into his shoulder as I press myself against his back.

I didn’t take him for a cuddler, but I shouldn’t be too surprised.

The man hasn’t had much physical contact these past few years, and as much as he likes to pretend he didn’t miss it, I know he did.

I kiss the back of his neck before slowly pulling away. Charlie hasn’t returned to bed, and I’m getting worried. I faintly remember her leaving to get a drink, but I was half-awake and fell asleep before she returned.

I assume she’s in my bed.

This wouldn’t be the first time she couldn’t sleep and escaped to my room for a few hours, but with Shay acting up, I don’t want to leave her alone. My feet drag against the floor as I walk through our connected bathroom.

My phone sits on the sink, and I tap the screen to see the time.

Instead of the image of Charlie I set as my background a few weeks ago, my screen brightens to reveal a sleeping photo of Silas and me. Charlie must have changed it. I’m surprised she even knew how to do it, and I smile as I admire the photo.

After figuring out where my human ventured, I’ll have to send it to Silas.

I move through the bathroom and into my bedroom, but I pause in the doorway.

My bed is empty?

I gulp, a little worried as I leave my room and make my way to Aziel’s.

Charlie was guilty about rejecting him, and I’m willing to bet she found her way to his bed sometime in the middle of the night. It’s the only other place I think she’d go, and I refuse to entertain any other possibilities.

Charlie would’ve called for us if she were in trouble. She saw how upset we were after the last incident, and I don’t see her doing that to us again.

I repeat that to myself as I head to Aziel’s room. I bet he welcomed her right into his bed, probably sporting a childish, eager grin as he pulled back his bedcovers and urged her to crawl into his arms.

My steps quicken as I think about it. Aziel’s had women throwing themselves at his feet his entire life, and I immensely enjoy watching him fumble to get my female’s attention. Charlie’s not making it easy for him, and I love that about her.

She knows what she’s worth.

I push open his bedroom door and step inside. I do my best to remain quiet as I listen for her heartbeat, but when I only hear one, I lunge forward and rip the sheets off the bed.

Aziel sits up with a gasp, his eyes wide as he meets my frantic ones.

“Charlie’s not with you?” I ask, already knowing the answer.

He turns to search the room before vanishing, and I hurry back into her bedroom to ensure I didn’t miss her. Silas wakes up as I come busting inside, and he takes one look at my panicked expression before vanishing just like Aziel.

I run downstairs, unable to hear or smell Charlie anywhere in this fucking house.

My hands shake as I run them through my hair, my desperation growing as I rush into Aziel’s office and then Silas’s. Aziel promised that Shay wouldn’t be messing with us anymore.

He should have fucking killed her the last time she showed up.
