Page 31 of Her Males

She smiles and cocks her head to the side. I shift uncomfortably, hating every second I’m in her presence. She makes me uneasy, and I don’t trust her one bit.

“Why are you telling me and not Aziel?” I ask.

“Aziel refuses to see me.”

My face remains flat, but inside, I find joy in hearing that.

I clear my throat, trying to decide what to say, when Shay suddenly steps forward and reaches for the stone around my neck. Her abrupt movements have a scream tearing out of my mouth, the noise making her jolt and disappear just as Gray materializes in the space.

He looks feral as he grabs me and searches the room, his grip on my ribs bruising as he yanks me into his chest. I flinch at the pain his abrupt movements bring, but he doesn’t seem to notice as he pulls me out of the bathroom and into his bedroom.

His eyes continue to dart around as he checks to ensure Shay’s truly gone.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes.”

Gray doesn’t listen as he grabs my shirt and rips it off my body.

“Gray!” I shout. “She didn’t touch me.”

He unclips my bra before yanking my leggings and underwear down my legs. I frantically try to cover myself as he crouches to peer at the small red spots left on my waist from where he grabbed me too hard. His fingers ghost over them before he grabs my thigh and lifts it so he can check underneath.

I curse, grabbing his shoulder to remain steady while he maneuvers me like cattle.

“What’s going on?”

I jump a good foot in the air and hide behind Gray as Aziel’s voice floats through the room. He stands in the doorway next to Silas, and I can pinpoint the moment he smells Shay. His pupils dilate as he scans the room, checking for any sign of her.

“Where is she?” Aziel asks, shifting into the bathroom doorway and stepping into the spot where she stood only moments prior.

Silas follows him before changing his mind and approaching me. His eyes follow the same path Gray’s did, and I feel my cheeks redden as he grabs my arms and pulls them away from my body.

“Guys,” I hiss, embarrassed.

Aziel returns to the room and plants himself next to Silas. He bites at his bottom lip as he grabs my wrists and lifts them in the air. I fight to rip them out of his hand, but he refuses to let me go.

“I’m okay. She just wanted to talk,” I promise.

Aziel’s gaze on my naked body is clinical, a far cry from the heated one I’m used to seeing on him. He hardly glances at my exposed breasts as he searches for any signs of injury, but his jaw snaps shut when he finds the darkening bruises on my ribs from where Gray grabbed me.

He adjusts his hold on my wrists before bringing his free hand to the spots.

I hate how my skin pebbles up as he lightly runs his fingertips over them, and I look to Gray for help when my nipples harden for everybody to see. Gray doesn’t seem to notice as he crouches to peer at the thigh he didn’t get a chance to evaluate earlier, his need to protect me from Shay outweighing his desire to protect me from Aziel.

“What are these?” Aziel asks, still distracted by my tiny bruises.

Gray looks up. “Those are mine.”

The temperature in the room seems to drop a good ten degrees as Aziel stills. Silas disappears behind me as Gray gulps.

“You hurt the human?” Aziel asks.

He releases my wrists and pushes against my belly until I stumble into Silas’s chest. The fate wrestles a shirt over my head as Aziel turns to Gray.

I can’t see the Wrath’s expression, but I figure it’s not friendly, given the look of fear that spreads across Gray’s face.

“It was an accident,” Gray says, gesturing wildly in my direction. “I heard her scream and panicked. Shay’s scent was everywhere, and I grabbed Charlie too hard.”
