I reach down and try to pull Charlie’s arms off me, but she refuses to be removed.

“Please, Aziel,” she pleads. “Just one conversation. That’s all I’m asking for.”

Her fingers twist into the fabric of my shirt, pulling it taut against my chest. I tighten my grip on her biceps before loosening up in fear of hurting her. Gray may be more than happy leaving bruises all over her skin, but that’s not something I’m interested in.

“You’re being annoying,” I tell her.

I know she can feel my erection digging into her stomach, her reddening cheeks giving her away.

She doesn’t say anything, and after a silent stare-off, I groan and look up at the ceiling. Buying her was a mistake. If I were smart, I would’ve accepted Shay years ago when I had the opportunity. I hate her, but at least I wouldn’t have to deal with this incessant human.

“Fuck!”

Charlie jolts but doesn’t let go.

“Fine,” I say. “You win. Just fucking let me go, and I’ll talk to her.”

Charlie beams up at me, and I fight the urge to shut her eyes for her as she finally fucking releases me and steps away.

I meet her gaze as I shove my hand into my pants to readjust my erection. She felt it, Gray smelled it, and I’m sure Silas noticed it the second she stepped back, so there’s not much of a point in pretending it’s not there.

My cock twitches as I pull it into my waistband to relieve some of the pressure, and I sink my teeth into my bottom lip as she backs into Silas’s chest. Her eyes flash to where I’m holding myself, and I hear her heart beating loudly in her chest.

I wonder what she’d do if I were to pull out my cock and begin stroking myself. Gray would love it, but Silas and Charlie are wildcards.

“Thank you,” Charlie mutters, clearing her throat as I release myself and pull my hand from my pants.

She thinks she owns me. And I just gave her more reason to think that. The realization pisses me off, and I turn and leave the room without responding.

I prop myself up on my elbows as Gray and Silas come strolling into my bedroom. Gray is wearing one of Silas’s T-shirts, the sight odd. It’s usually my clothes he’s trying to steal.

I’ve done an excellent job avoiding them these past two days, but I should’ve known it was only a matter of time before they forced themselves into my private space.

I’m only wearing my sweatpants, and I glance at my shirt lying bunched up on the floor before turning back to my two intruders. I can’t be bothered to get out of bed and dress.

“You promised Charlie you’d talk to Shay,” Gray says.

I turn and look in the direction of Charlie’s bedroom. If I listen hard enough, I can hear her breathing into her pillow. It’s steady, signaling she’s asleep, and I allow myself to listen for a moment longer before turning back to Gray and Silas.

They look pissed.

“It’s not going to kill you to have one ten-minute conversation with her,” Silas adds.

I beg to differ. I have no interest in speaking to Shay and even less interest in allowing Charlie to continue thinking she has some pull over me. I have enough to worry about, and I’ve been focusing too much on Charlie.

The room falls silent, and I listen as she lets out a quiet sigh. Her sheets rustle as she rolls over, and I hold my breath as I wait to see if she wakes up. She doesn’t.

Cute.

“I’m too busy to waste time indulging Shay or Charlie,” I say. “I spent all day trying, and failing, to catch up on everything I missed while I was in the pits.”

It was foolish to leave for so long, and I’m paying for it dearly. My days are busy enough without the added pressure of trying to figure out this whole female situation, and now I’m lucky to have even an hour to myself a day.

“We all know nothing good’s going to come of it,” I continue. “If I speak with Shay, she’ll take that as an invitation and start showing up all the time. She’s done it before, and she’ll do it again.”

The bed frame groans as I sit up further.
