It was perfect.

Absolutely perfect.

However, what wasn’t perfect was three days later, and Asher was acting like a petulant toddler.

I thought with age came wisdom.

Apparently, not with my man.

Stubborn... gah...

“This is stupid,” Asher mumbled as he carried in another box.

Apparently, Asher didn’t like the look of my neighbor in my new apartment after he had brought me home after our date.

So, he had contacted the previous apartment complex and paid I didn’t know how much money to get me back into that apartment.

Even though he did all of that without me saying a word to him, he was now acting like a toddler.

I lifted a brow and put my hand on my hip, “Exactly how is this stupid?”

He dropped the box on the stack of boxes in my bedroom, looked at me, and lifted his own brow, “How is this not, Doll Baby? I have a perfectly good house. If you wanna tear it down and build a new one, that’s okay with me. If you want to demolish a room, I don’t have a problem with it. But you’re mine, and I’m yours. So, this whole thing is stupid.”

“Asher, you're being ridiculous,” I said as I passed by him, but I didn’t make it far.

Because the moment I cleared his big frame, he had his hand on my bicep and his other hand on my hip, and he spun me, then backed me into a wall.

Then he lowered his head and got in my face, “I’m not being ridiculous. I want you with me. Always. Spent too much time apart as it is. This is more time apart.”

I sighed, then placed my hands on his chest, “Asher, seriously. I get that. And I want to be with you all the time, too. But I need to do this. I don’t want to take advantage of you,” when he opened his mouth to no doubt say otherwise, I placed my finger over his lips, which he kissed, dork, then I said, “We are starting something new. Yes, I’ve known you for almost all my life. But I knew you as Stella’s dad. The president of Zagan MC. I haven’t known you as my man. And vice versa. I signed the contract for a year. I need that, Asher. Please. Plus, you were the one who didn’t like my neighbor and did all of that without talking to me about what you wanted to do. That’s on you, big guy.”

He sighed, then placed his forehead atop mine, “How the fuck do you do that?”

I grinned, “How in the eff do I do what?”

He chuckled, “Get me to stay calm and to see reason. Wait, allow me to rephrase that, to see your reasoning.”

I winked up at him, “It’s a gift.”

He pressed a kiss on my forehead, “You ever going to curse?”

“You have met my mama, right?”

“So, what you’re saying is, even though I’m the president of a one percent motorcycle club, and we have kids, I’m going to have to watch my mouth?”

A feeling swept over me.

So soft.

So sweet.

My entire frame warmed. Then I whispered, “When we have kids?”

He nodded, “Yeah. Kids. But we’re having boys. ‘Cause if we have girls, I really will be in an orange jumpsuit if they look anything like their mama.”

“Umm, guys, can you quit with the lovey-dovey stuff? We’ve got more stuff to do. And Dad, she was mine first. I get to spend the first night with her here. Not you.” Stella grinned cheekily.

Asher lowered his voice and whispered, “If she wasn’t my daughter...”
