Page 27 of Asher

I heard Asher’s voice shortly after that, “Everything okay, princess?”

“They changed the event to the gym. And that doesn’t sound like fun. Chloe thought about my tenth birthday. Do y’all still have the lights and stuff?”

He was quiet for a beat, then said, “When will the two of you be ready?”

Stella answered him, “Forty-five minutes or so.”

I nodded.

“Okay. Tell you what, y’all finish getting ready, I’m going to have Gabby grab y’all dinner. Eat that. Then I’ll send someone to pick y’all up. Don’t worry about a thing. Alright?”

She nodded.

Then, before she hung up, I heard Asher ask, “Color’s your dress, princess?”

“Light blue.”

Then he asked, “Chloe’s?”

“Deep red.”

He was silent for another beat, then said, “Okay.” And with that, he hung up.

After we got ready, Gabby knocked on the door. Stella answered it, and I heard, “Dayum girl, you are looking fine.”

Stella beamed.

Then I saw Gabby, and when she saw me, her jaw dropped, then closed, then dropped again, then she said, “Girl... holy shit. Are you planning to give the brothers a heart attack?”

Stella snickered, “I made her get it. She looks stunning in it.”

“It’s too much,” I said.

The same thing I said to Stella when she made me try it on at the store a couple of months ago.

“It is not. Now let’s see what Dad got us.” We both thanked Gabby and then she was out the door.

And it was our favorite.

Italian dishes fromItaliano’s, the best Italian restaurant in the state. If you wanted my opinion and basically that of everyone in our county.

My mouth watered when I smelled everything.

And then, my senses were heightened when I took my first bite of the creamy Tuscan chicken pasta.

Stella got the chicken carbonara, her favorite as well.

And the garlic bread delish.

I was so full I didn’t think I could move.

Well, that was until we both heard the sounds of Harley pipes.

I looked at Stella.

She looked at me.

And we grinned, “Way out,” I whispered.
