“What are you going to do with him?”

“You’ll see.”

I’m not sure I like the sound of that. Sure, I don’t want Cade back and he’s a dick, but I don’t wish him harm or worse. Death.

Once we’re both dressed, Creed escorts me out behind the clubhouse to a wooded area. We enter a clearing between some trees where some of the other club members have Cade on his knees at gunpoint.

There’s a man dressed in an expensive suit who would be handsome if it wasn’t for the scar running diagonally down the left side of his face partially through both his eye and his lips like someone tried to slice his face in half. With him are two guys dressed in all black, similar to the one who broke into my apartment.

“I’m sorry, Lottie. I never meant to involve you.”

“Shut the fuck up,” Rogue grits out, before smacking Cade in the back of the head in warning. “No one told you to speak.”

“I hear you have something that belongs to me,” the man in the suit states, then nods toward Creed.

“I have the drive. Cade has given his word for whatever its worth that there aren’t any copies. In exchange for his freedom, you’ll get the drive and his laptop. And for facilitating this deal, the club gets fifteen percent of your sales for the next twelve months. You’ll also forgo any retaliation for the death of your man, since it was his own stupidity that got him killed. You ever so much as breathe near my woman again, I’ll kill you myself.”

I don’t know if his threat is meant for the man in the suit or for Cade. Maybe both. Creed shakes the drug dealer’s hand and gives him the drive. All I know is I’m glad this is over.

“What’s going to happen to Cade?”

“Don’t fucking care, but I won’t be surprised if he’s found in a landfill or simply disappears all together for good.”

“And you think that guy will keep his word?”

He lifts a shoulder. “Can’t say. That’s a future problem. He won’t want any trouble. If he’s smart, he’s realizedwe gave him a copy of Cade’s drive and if he fucks us, we’ll use the original however we need to.”

“I see.”

“I give you my word that whatever fate awaits Cade, it won’t be at my hands.”

“Thank you.”

“Anything for you, hellcat.”

“I’ll take my keys now.”

“Real cute that you think you’re going anywhere.”

“I’ve got a job to get back to and a life.”

“I told you. There’s no reason for you to work unless you really want to.”

“It’s a sweet offer, but I can’t sit around all day waiting for you to call between jobs.”

“I want to start a life together.”

“I’m not saying no.”

“Not sounding like a yes.”

“Relationships are about compromising.”

“I can be persuasive.”

“Oh yeah.”

“Yeah.” He comes in close, dipping his head down to kiss me. “Come on. There’s something I want to show you.” He leads me to a distinct part of the property where there’s different plots of land reserved for what appears to be cabins. “Tyrant and Blair have their place over there. And this is going to be ours.”
