She grins against my mouth. “I’ve always felt they get in the way.”
“I’m glad I didn’t know that before.” I smile against her lips before claiming them again. I push her back on the dining table and crawl over her. Her legs wrap around my hips as my throbbing cock pushes toward her center. I stop before I can slide home. “Fuck, I don’t have anything. Let me run upst—”
Tacoma places her finger over my lips. “Ry, I need to feel you, all of you. In case… in case we don’t have all the time in the world.”
I hate that she feels like this can’t last but I will spend every day proving to her it can, that she is the one I want. The one I need in my life. The one that chases the darkness away. She is my light and I need her to see.
I push into her warm heat as my mouth falls back to hers. I slowly push in and out of her, relishing in her tightness, in the way she sucks me in. Her hands rub up my chest and over my shoulders as I lean on my elbows framing her face. “You’re all I’ve ever wanted, birdie.”
“You’re all I ever need, Ry.”
Her words push me to the edge as I start to pump faster, her whimpers driving me to the brink. We keep our eyes locked on each other as we both push ourselves to the precipice. It’s the most intimate experience I’ve ever had. But there is no one else I would want to share this with.
I collapse on top of her. We are both breathing heavily, her arms slowly caressing my back as I bury my face in her neck. I kiss my way up to her mouth before staring back into her blazing eyes. I’ve never felt this connected to one person and by the tears welling up in her eyes I bet she hasn’t either.
We don’t say anything to each other. We just stare, searching each other’s eyes, speaking through them so we don’t have to say the words aloud. I kiss her softly, slowly, before I finally pull back.
A smile fills her gorgeous face. “You think we are ever going to have sex in a bed?”
I burst out in laughter as I finally pull out of her and collapse on the table next to her. I turn my head to look at her and she rolls over to her side, propping herself up on her elbow. She cups my face and says, “Ryder, you are the single most important person in my life. Those eight years apart were torture. You broke me. But I think I was meant to come back here, to find you. So we could find all those pieces we left forgotten between us.”
She leans down and kisses me. I pull away first and climb off the table.
“What are you doing?” she asks.
I don’t answer her, just grin as I pull her to the edge of the dining room table then flip her over my shoulder.
“What are you doing?” she shrieks as I palm her ass that is right next to my face.
“Taking you to bed.”
She relaxes at my words as I climb the stairs. I throw her on the bed and make do on my promise.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Tacoma
I’ve never felt more sated in my life. Sex with Ryder was everything I imagined it would be and more. And it’s not just the physical connection of our bodies. It’s the connection of our souls. We may have spent eight years apart, tried hard to forget everything that happened between us, but our souls knew each other, reconnected, brought us together in ways I never thought was possible.
And here I am laying naked in bed next to him, his hand making lazy circles over my back as we tell each other meaningless things about our past.
“I can’t believe you stole planters from a little old lady,” Ryder comments after I tell him the story of mine and Cam’s crazy neighbor when we were in college.
“She deserved it! We would have people over and she would call the police on us every time. We weren’t even loud. She actually got Cam arrested once. She deserved losing her damn flowers. Not to mention my allergies were off the charts because she needed to have an entire garden on her six by four foot balcony. I’m tellin’ you, Ryder, she could have opened a damn flower shop.”
“She was an old lady, what do you expect?” he teases.
“She should have cats!”
“That would have been worse. Imagine the cat piss smell everywhere.”
“Ugh. You’re right. But still she needed something with a heartbeat. I would see her talkin’ to those plants for hours. Fucking creepy.”
“You’re lying.”
“I swear to god I am not. I will call Cam right now and have her tell you.”
He looks at me with a sad face. “I don’t think she would be happy to hear that we are laying naked in a bed together.”
