There’s no denying it, so I don’t try to act like I’m not sitting there in a puddle of my own juices, because I am.

But I can play this game, too.

Mimicking him, I lean in over the table and lick my top lip slowly, holding his gaze and not letting go. Under the table, I slip off my stiletto and raise my stockinged foot and press my toes against his crotch.

He gasps at the unexpected touch and I delight in his surprised expression.

“When we get home, I’m going to slide your cock between my lips, Carter. I’m going to twirl my tongue around the head of your hard and throbbing heat, and then I’m going to engulf your shaft, consuming it completely in my mouth, sliding up and down it, until your balls are so tight and engorged that you’re begging me to go faster. And when I do, you’re going to explode inside my mouth, gifting me your warm, delicious release until it’s dripping down my chin.”

Admittedly, this isn’t dinner talk, per se, but we’re finished eating and Carter doesn’t seem to be taking offense. In fact, the quick swelling of his cock under my foot as I’ve been rubbing it up and down his shaft while talking dirty to him, is a clear indication that he’s not upset in the least.

I smile seductively over at him, and then take a sip of my wine, leaving my foot firmly planted against his cock under the table.

“Damn,” he growls, shaking his head. “I think I’ve met my match.”

I wink over at him and laugh softly. “I’m just saying two can play at that game, Carter.”

“And I can’t wait to play,” he admits. He breaks my gaze and gestures to the waiter, his cock rock hard under my toes. “Check please!”

Laughter bubbles up from deep inside of me.

ChapterThirty-Four

Carter

My heart poundsas I sit across from Aiden in the booth at Mario's Pizzeria. The checkered tablecloth blurs before my eyes. I try to steady my breathing. How do I tell him about Eve?

Hey, I fell in love with the one person you warned me against. And I’m fucking your little sister, by the way. We’re having mind-blowing sex.

Aiden’s sharp gaze studies me, calm but intense. I fidget, my fingers tearing the napkin in my lap.

“You seem on edge, Carter,” Aiden says, his tone level. “Everything alright?”

I force a smile. “Just busy with work. You know, the med school.” My voice sounds tight, even to me.

Aiden nods but doesn’t look convinced. I tap an erratic rhythm on the table, willing myself to speak, but the words stick in my throat.

This is Aiden. My friend. Eve’s brother. The man who welcomed me when I joined the faculty. And I’m about to shatter it all.

“I wanted to talk to you about something,” I begin, hating how my voice wavers.

Aiden leans forward, relaxed but attentive. Meanwhile, I feel like I might jump out of my skin.

I take a deep breath. It’s now or never. “It’s about Eve,” I say, my heart racing. “There’s something you should know.”

Aiden’s eyebrow lifts, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. “Eve? What about her?”

His tone is casual, but there’s something else there. Protectiveness, maybe. I swallow, my mouth dry.

“She’s doing well. How’s Olivia? And little Maggie?” I deflect, cursing my own cowardice.

“They’re great,” Aiden says, his face softening. “Maggie’s growing fast, but she barely sleeps. Liv’s exhausted, even though we have a nanny. Our pediatrician says that we should be through the worst of it in a couple of weeks.”

I nod, grateful for the brief distraction. “That’s wonderful. I’m happy for you both.”

Aiden’s gaze doesn’t waver. “Thanks, Carter. But I get the feeling you didn’t ask me here to talk about my daughter’s sleep schedule.”

My heart hammers in my chest. I feel the weight of his expectation pressing down.
