“That about sums it up, but there’ll be more to it, that part I can’t talk to you about. It’s club business, and you aren’t involved in club business. No ol’ lady is.”
Rory’s face starts to get that look like she wants to protest, but instead, she draws that lip in between her teeth and nods.
“Now, come on, let’s get the fuck out of this room before I decide to have you ride my face rather than go talk to my brothers.”
I let her go to take her hand in mine and guide her out of the room, down the hall, into the main room of the clubhouse. The room was already filled with my brothers except for Viper.
“Viper take Jade to that appointment?” I ask Cyprus when I make it to his side.
“Yeah.” He smirks. “You missed the drama over it when he told her they needed to reschedule it.”
“Brother, that woman of his, she might have once been sweet and shy . . . oof.”
I look at Kevlar to see him bent forward slightly, his hand holding his stomach.
“Woman, what the fuck was that for?” Kevlar had his head cocked to his woman.
“That’s my best friend you’re talking about,” she tells him.
“Yeah, and her being knocked up has her crazier than you.” He snorts.
“So . . .” she draws out. “It’s hormones. Get over it.”
“How about we chill the fuck out until he gets back?” Cyprus suggests, looking at his phone. “Noelle took Bride shopping for some school clothes because the girl doesn’t seem to think she’s got enough and now needs new shoes.”
“A girl can never have enough shoes,” Rosemary retorts. “What style is she looking to get?”
Cyprus turned his phone around and shows us. “She picked out a pair of Doc Martins and fuckin’ pink Converse.”
“Girls got taste.” Rosemary laughs. “I wouldn’t mind having those myself.”
“She’s just a little girl still. She should be into princesses still. Instead, she asked to be signed up for kickboxing at the gym and wants to join a field hockey team.”
“I played field hockey,” Rory speaks up.She had played. She’d been damn good at it too. “I could show her some pointers if you want.”
“That would be good ‘cause I sure as shit don’t know anything about the sport. Football. Yes. Baseball. Yes. Basketball. Again yes. Even NASCAR, fuckin’ yes. Volleyball. No. Field hockey, what the fuck is that? Isn’t hockey supposed to be played on ice?”
Several of my brothers join me as I start chuckling. When it comes to Bride, Cyprus is the only parent figure she’s ever had. He’d gotten full custody of her a couple years ago. Their mom was a bitch and didn’t give a shit about Bride. Cyprus, on the other hand, loves that girl as if she were his own kid instead of his little sister.
“Just wait until you and Noelle have a kid of your own.” Wolf snorts, shaking his head.
“Fuck you,” Cyprus grunts.
“Come on, Rory, let’s leave these men to their horrors of children and go in the kitchen to figure out dinner for tonight.”
“I don’t really know how to cook,” Rory admits.
“That’s okay, I’m not the greatest either. But we can figure something out between the two of us, I’m sure of it.”
Rory looks over her shoulder in my direction as Rosemary drags her away from me. I give her a wink in assurance as they get to the kitchen door.
“She looks to be doing better today,” Mace states, getting my attention.
“Yeah, she is. We’ve worked a lot of things out between the two of us,” I confide in my brothers and glance at each of them. “Got something I want to bring to the table when Viper gets back. Don’t know if y’all will agree.”
“What?” Cyprus asks, cocking a brow.
“A fight,” I state, looking to Kevlar. “We get Roger to agree to a death match.”
