“Me too,” I sighed. Christmas morning with those munchkins was a stitch, and I was just as disappointed that I was going to miss it. “Tell my munchkins I love them, and we’ll have our own little Christmas morning soon.”
“I will. We just miss you and wish you were home.”
When I heard the floorboards creak again but didn’t see Cammie, I frowned. “I’m going to go, but make sure you call me tomorrow morning. Do you still have the number for the landline?”
“Yes. Be safe. We love you. And Merry Christmas.”
“Ditto.”

CAMMIE
My mind was all over the place, and my heart was racing.
When Soren had left me with a pile of women’s clothing, I’d been confused, then a little annoyed when I assumed they belonged to some woman he’d previously brought home.
I’d marched over to his room, ready to give him a piece of my mind, when I heard him on the phone with a woman…Lulu.
The affection in his voice was obvious, and then he’d said something about her and the kids visiting.
Kids? Were they his? Was this an ex?
His voice had moved closer, so I darted back into my room, ignoring my guilty conscience for eavesdropping. It had been clear from his side of the conversation that there was easy banter between them. It didn’t sound like someone he used to be with. There was too much love in his tone. And then he’d mentioned her loving him… At that point, I didn’t want to hear any more.
I had no claim on Soren. It shouldn’t bother me he might be with someone.
Although, if he’d kissed me while dating another woman, I could be a little pissed about that, right?
After begrudgingly pulling on a warm sweater, thick leggings, and fuzzy socks, I wandered out into the living room, trying to convince myself to stop obsessing.
But the little devil on my shoulder was pretty damn persuasive, so when I heard Soren in the kitchen, still on the phone, I walked over and stood to the side of the door.
They had switched to a video call, so I heard her half of the conversation as well.
From the way they were talking, my suspicions took a turn because there was much more between them than I’d originally guessed.
Fucking hell.
He was married.
Married with kids!
What a jackass!
Did this mean he just left his wife to raise his kids? Going home to see them “frequently.” Obviously, she had no idea that he went around kissing other women. This Lulu needed a freaking wake-up call.
Then when he said he loved her…his sweet girl…I irrationally wanted to cry.
What is the matter with me? Ugh!
After he told her to give his love to “his munchkins,” I’d heard more than enough.
I grumbled under my breath as I stomped over to the couch and dropped onto the cushions.
Soren appeared a few seconds later, and he smiled at me until he clocked my face. “Since I’m the only other person here, I’m assuming that expression is for me?”
My eyes narrowed, and I folded my arms under my breasts. When it drew his eyes down to my chest and my nipples pebbled, it made me even more angry.
