“Don’t do it,” I gritted out.
“Oh shit, it must be bad. What the hell is going on between you two?” Bash asked.
Josh dropped his head for a second before he looked back up at all of us, and the pit in my stomach grew.
“Charlie and I had too much to drink the other night and got married,” Josh said.
I sank down on the couch and polished off the rest of my beer.
Great.
Just fucking great.
Chapter 6
JOSH
Whatthehellwaswrong with me?
Anything that happened after this was completely due to my stupid outing of our marriage. All because I was fucking jealous of the attention she gave that child, and I blurted out the truth. I wanted to slam my head against the wall. The guys were going to kill me if Charlie didn’t first.
Not that I blamed her. We could’ve had a quick no-one-needs-to-know annulment, and the guys would never have been the wiser, but now we were all scattered around my room, and I was about to get my ass handed to me if I didn’t figure something out.
“Guys,” I began.
Five sets of eyes stared at me.
“How the fuck are you married?” Bash had commandeered one of the oversized chairs in the room, and Cassie’s eyes flung daggers at me as she perched on one of its arms.
“It’s Vegas,” I said.
“Did someone take over your brain, CH? Now is not the time for jokes,” Jax said.
“Weren’t you with them last night?” Bash asked.
“There was a hot chick who wanted me. Can you blame her? So I left the two of them to head back to the hotel. Never, I mean, never, did I think they would get fucking married. I mean, what the fuck universe did we wake up in? They hate each other,” Jax said.
“Hate is a strong word. We just rub against each other the wrong way,” I said.
“And you decided to rub against each other the right way and get fucking married?” Bash asked.
“Oh my god. Seriously, Bash?” Cassie shook her head.
Bash shrugged. “What? They’re married. So odds are good they hooked up.”
“We did not hook up,” Charlie yelled.
“Couldn’t keep it up, CH?” Jax asked.
“This is not the time for fucking jokes, Ellie,” Charlie gritted out.
Jax held up his hands. “I’m the comic relief and we need some goddamn relief right now because you two being married is madness.”
“Look. We both had way too much to drink. Way too much. And it’s a bit foggy for both of us, but somehow we got married. It’s legit and it’s a mistake, one that my personal attorney is already looking into getting annulled,” I explained.
“We were clearly insane and trashed last night, and nothing aside from saying ‘I do’ happened. Nothing. We planned on quietly getting it annulled before anyone found out. It was a massive mistake and I’m sorry that you guys had to find out about it. If this asshole had kept his mouth shut, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation right now.” Charlie continued to glare at me.
“Yes, it’ll be taken care of, and soon it will just be a bad memory we can all forget,” I said.
