“Charlie. It’s Troy. Can I talk to you?” My ex’s voice was tinny, but I knew it was him.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

“How did you get my address?”

“Good question. How did you get her address and why the fuck are you here?”

Josh?

What the hell was he doing here? And with Troy? I must be having a nightmare. I pushed the button a few times, wondering if it was possessed, but Troy and Josh’s tinny voices kept cutting in and out.

“Go away, asshole. Don’t you have other chicks to bang?” Troy asked.

“You’re one to talk, dickhead,” Josh said. “You don’t deserve her.”

“Neither do you,” Troy fired back, all while holding the buzzer so I could hear the entire pissing contest.

I wasn’t in the mood for this. “Can both of you go away, please?”

“No,” they both said.

Fucking hell. I was torn between laughing and crying.

“I might not deserve her, but at least I love her. And I never cheated on her,” Josh said.

What?My lips parted, but no sound came out.

“That’s not what I read online,” Troy said. “But hey, that brunette was fucking hot. Even your dad backed up the claim.”

“I do not owe you an explanation, asshat. But she’s my realtor, and my father is a lying piece of shit. Kind of like you.” Anger filled Josh’s voice.

Shit.

And then they were gone. I ran over to the window that looked out on the street and front stoop below.

I gasped again. Fucking hell. Josh and Troy were circling each other, and even from here, I could see that Troy was already sporting a bruise on his cheek.

They were yelling at each other, but I couldn’t hear anything. And then Troy swung at Josh, clipping his jaw.

I grabbed my phone and my keys and slid on some shoes before I raced out the door and headed for the elevator.

When the doors opened to the lobby, I rushed outside to see them both locked together and grunting at each other.

“What the fuck is going on?” I yelled.

Josh turned at my voice, and Troy took a cheap shot, punching Josh in the ribs.

Josh winced and spun back into Troy, elbowing him in the chest.

“Fuck,” Troy shouted as Josh evaded another hit.

I sent a quick text to the guys in our group chat, telling them to get over here. This was a mess and I wasn’t sure I could stop it.

“Don’t come over here, Charlie. I don’t want you to get hurt,” Josh said as he landed a punch to Troy’s cheek.

I marched right over to them. “You two are insane. Stop fighting.”

But they ignored me and I had to back up as they circled again.
