“The last time you got like this was when Mom took away your drumsticks and handed you a unicorn tea set.”
I huffed. “You’re annoying.”
“Whatcha ladies gossiping about?” Jax poked his head between my sister and me.
“How irritating you are,” I answered.
“The word you’re looking for is amazing,” he said without missing a beat.
Jules laughed. “You’re ridiculous.”
“No. I’mamazing.” He pronounced every syllable distinctly.
She shook her head. “Do you ever get exhausted from being on all the time?”
“Surprisingly, he doesn’t,” Bash said.
He scanned my face for a second, and I knew he was checking to see if I was okay after that elevator bullshit.
At least I knew the guys would always have my back.
My husband, on the other hand…
Nope. Tonight was about fun with my sister. That was it.
Dealing with Josh was for later.
I flashed Bash a smile, hoping it didn’t look forced.
“What are you talking about? This is my natural personality,” Jax boasted.
“Much to our irritation,” Tristan deadpanned.
“Oh, MB, you love it and you know it.” Jax flashed me a wink.
He was being over the top, but he was doing it to take my mind off Josh. And I was grateful.
“I’m not moody,” Tristan muttered, keeping the banter up.
Jules grinned at me. “Are they always like this?”
“Always.” I rolled my eyes, glad to participate in the teasing.
“We should hang out more when we’re home, Juliebean,” Jax said.
“Juliebean? What is that?” she asked.
“Like jellybean. Working on nicknames. ’Bout time you had one,” Jax said.
She chuckled. “Well, it’s not going to be that.”
“Um.” Jax paused, tapping his finger on his forehead. “Mint julesp.”
“Oh, man, that’s awful. And don’t spit on us,” Tristan said.
“Guess that’s out. But don’t worry, I’ll figure one out,” he said.
“Can’t wait,” Jules said.
