It took me a second to decide if I should give in and kiss him. He was kissing me because my sister was here and she thought we were in love. That our marriage was real.

My heart squeezed, and I wondered what show he was referring to. Me on stage or the one right now, with his lips pressed to mine.

I didn’t immediately pull away. For show, of course. But, honestly, because I never tired of kissing him. Was I setting myself up for heartache, or was I already there?

His hand tightened on my hip, and I couldn’t stop myself from rocking against him. Fuck, I wanted him. Part of me knew this wasn’t the time, but I nibbled his lip anyway. His tongue traced the seam of my lips, and I parted, tasting him. My hand gripped his shirt between us, and everything else disappeared as he kissed me.

“Okay, okay. Get a room.” Jax groaned, breaking the daze I was in.

“Um, wow. O-kaaay,” Jules said.

I ended the kiss and found my sister looking at me with amusement. To her this was real. And probably strange since I’d never told my sister I had any feelings for Josh aside from irritation and disdain.

“Sorry. Um. I should go take a quick shower.” I stepped away from Josh’s hold.

“Probably should make it a cold one,” my sister quipped.

I glared at her, but she grinned back.

Guess we’d sold that story.

Jax smirked. “I cannot tell you how tired I am of seeing Josh with his tongue down Charlie’s throat.”

“Oh shut up, Jax.”

“All right, everyone, get cleaned up. Then we can head back to the hotel,” Josh said.

“Josh’s grouchy because his wife is hanging out with her sister tonight and not him,” Jax teased. “Jules, want to spend the night with me?”

Bash shook his head. “Wow. That’s pretty blunt, even for you, man.”

“What can I say? I’m a team player, Wolfie,” Jax said, shooting my sister a wink.

“Yeah, no. I’m good with my own room. Josh set everything up,” Jules said.

I turned to Josh. “You did? That was really, uh, nice of you,” I said.

Josh laughed. “Charlie, haven’t you figured out by now that I’m not a total asshole?”

It was meant as a joke, as something to brush off, but at the same time, he wasn’t the man I’d thought he was. Which was going to make the end of all of this so much harder.

If he’d been an asshole through and through, walking away when the tour was over would have been easy.

Now I wasn’t sure what to do.

“This room is gorgeous,” Jules said as she shut the door behind us a short time later.

We’d left the guys to their own devices once Jules had brushed off Jax for good. The man was tenacious, but Jules was very familiar with his type and not interested.

“I can’t believe you’re here,” I said, tossing my bag in the corner and plopping down on the fluffy bed. “I’m so happy you are.”

She reclined next to me and shifted onto her side to face me.

“Me too. So what’s going on? And do we need wine or something stronger?” Jules asked.

“What? Nothing’s wrong,” I said.

“You can bullshit me on the phone, which is why I wanted to see you in person. See for myself that you’re okay,” she said.
