“Not as loud as she is,” Max said, gesturing toward Gabi. He hadn’t been able to resist.

“Max. Seriously?” Ava deadpanned. His sister blushed. Maybe innuendo in front of his sister and the kids wasn’t a good idea, but what else was he supposed to do with that opening?

“Ouch,” he barked, and he looked down to see Gabi pinching him. He twisted away from her fingers.

“You are dead,” she muttered for his ears only.

“Come on. Let’s go downstairs and make waffles,” Ava said.

“With blackberries and strawberries?” Amelia asked.

“And whipped cream and chocolate?” Connor asked.

“Maybe not chocolate, but let’s go make them because Mommy is hungry,” Ava said, steering them toward the door again.

“Okay. But I want to have a sleepover with Uncle Max and Auntie Gabi tonight,” Amelia said.

“We’ll see,” Ava said as they finally walked out of the door. Then she turned to look back into the room. “Don’t take too long. I mean it,” she said.

“Quick showers and then we’ll be down. Ten minutes, tops,” Gabi said.

“I’m sorry, Gabs,” Ava whispered. Then the door shut behind her and the kids, and they were blissfully alone.

“Oh my god,” Gabi said, hitting him with his pillow.

“Look. If you want a pillow fight, we are going to take longer than ten minutes to get downstairs,” he said, wiggling his eyebrows at her.

“How can you even think about that right now?” she admonished.

“Because you’re naked in my bed and the sheet fell to your lap when you picked up the pillow.” He swept his fingers over her nipples and grinned when it pebbled under his touch.

Fuck. He was getting hard again.

“Stop it. I can’t believe that just happened. And then you had to make a sexual joke about it. I swear, Max Mortimer, you are going to make me kill you.”

He tugged her close. “Don’t you dare middle name me, Gabi.” Then he rolled her underneath him.

“Max. We can’t,” she gasped, biting her lip and rocking her hips against him. “Damn you.”

Then she shoved him away and jumped out of bed. She pulled his shirt over her head and pointed a finger at him.

“Don’t you dare move until I’m out of this room. You are a disaster for my sanity, you know that?”

“But you love it,” he replied.

“Ugh. Because I must be insane,” she said, slipping from the room.

He flopped back on the pillow she’d hit him with. His entire bed smelled like sex and Gabi. He wished they hadn’t been interrupted.

He chuckled. That had been way too entertaining. He couldn’t wait for their next sleepover. Too bad he was headed to Vegas for round two tomorrow morning, so they would have to keep it low-key tonight.

Maybe only three orgasms. That sounded about right.

Fifteen minutes—and one orgasm in the shower—later, he walked into the kitchen.

“I’m starving,” he said, trailing his finger down Gabi’s spine as he walked past her on his way to Elise.

“How’s my little peanut today?” he asked, leaning down to kiss her on the nose. She babbled and grabbed his beard, giving it a tug.
