“Probably. Maybe. I don’t know. I swear I lose all common sense when you kiss me,” she said.
He chuckled against her throat. “You do the same thing to me, Rylie.” He groaned when she finally sunk her hands into his hair and held on while he kissed her.
He’d missed her so fucking much. They’d come home this morning after winning in St. Louis the night before, with Jake scoring a goal with twenty seconds to spare, gaining them the two points they needed.
Her nails scraped along the edge of his hairline as her tongue tangled with his. He would give anything to get out of here.
“Come stay at my place,” Rylie said when they finally ended the kiss. “It’s closer.”
“Are you sure?” he asked. He must’ve heard her wrong.
“As long as you sneak out before my dad wakes up.” She paused, shaking her head, her eyes bright with need and something he couldn’t name. “I know. We’ll tell him at some point. This is probably asking for trouble, but I want you in my bed.”
“Then let’s get the hell out of here,” he said, tugging on her hand.
She laughed. “Hold on, we can’t just bail on everyone. I’m going to tell them I’m exhausted and I called a car. Maybe you can tell Finn you’re heading out to meet friends or something?”
He hated that they were still doing this, but he agreed and followed her back into the crowd, calming down slightly when she squeezed his hand.
“Hey, guys,” she said when they found their group. “I’m exhausted, so I called a car.”
“No. You’re leaving?” Sophia said, her arms wrapped around Finn.
“Yeah. Sorry. It’s late. Big day tomorrow,” she said.
“I’m heading out too. Early morning flights drain me,” Desmond said.
“You’re both leaving?” Finn asked, his brow raised. Jake didn’t say a word.
“Yeah. Separately, of course,” Desmond said.
“Of course,” Sophia said, and then fgrinned.
“Yeah, okay. Good night,” Rylie said, giving the women quick hugs, and he internally cheered that she didn’t try harder to dispel what was going on.
That had to count for something.
Five minutes later, they were making out in the back of the Uber.
“We weren’t very subtle, were we?” she asked between kisses.
“We probably could’ve tried harder,” he said, pulling back to look in her eyes.
She ducked her head down. “Probably. But for some reason, I don’t care if they know. Ugh, this could turn into a disaster, but I’m tired of the secrets. Not that you get to sleep over tonight, mister. I’m not that crazy.”
He chuckled. “I know. But soon, we’re going to tell him, right? I’m falling hard for you, Rylie, and I no longer care who knows it.”
She sucked in a breath and locked her eyes on his. “I feel the same way. It’s too soon, right? We haven’t known each other that long.”
“You mean more to me than anyone else. Maybe it was fast, but doesn’t it feel right?” He was putting his heart out on the line in the hopes she wouldn’t trample all over it.
“Yeah,” she whispered. Then she leaned in and sealed her lips to his.
Chapter 10
“You were supposedto go home hours ago,” she whispered as the early morning light spilled across the sheets that she was currently tangled up in with Desmond. She should care. Hell. She really should care. But she didn’t have the energy. He’d obliterated that last night and in the early morning hours.
Now she wanted to lounge in his arms and see if morning sex with him was really that much better than late night sex. She found it hard to believe, but she was willing to give it a shot. For comparison, of course.
