Chapter 22

Jamie:Oatmeal raisin cookies that look like chocolate chip cookies are the reason I have trust issues.

Cassie:It was one time. I thought you’d like them.

Jamie:Ha. They weren’t that awful. But don’t trick people with that raisin nonsense.

Cassie:I’ll try to remember that.

Jamie:See that you do. Miss you, Cas.

Cassie:Miss you, too.

CASSIE

Bash:Can’t wait to finally put my arms around you tonight.

Heat coursed through my body as I read his text. It’d been too long since I’d felt his touch. Almost two weeks. After a ridiculously intense kiss on the tour bus, Bash had helped me into a cab nine days ago so I could head home and Steelwolf could continue their tour. I’d wanted to stay. Hell, I should’ve taken the time off—I had it—instead, I was back at work and wishing I was watching him perform every other night. Tomorrow night was the first of the last two shows in the city, but there was no doubt that Josh was already setting up a longer tour for the guys.

We’d texted and video chatted while he was gone, and as enjoyable as masturbating to a pixelated image of him was, to hearing his groans as he jerked himself off, it wasn’t the same as feeling him pulsing inside me.

Damn hot flashes started up again, and I tried to stop this train of thought. I had videos to review of the non-naked Bash variety.

Cassie:I can’t wait. Meeting at my place or yours? I’m making dinner so we don’t have to go out.

The key he’d handed me while we were on the tour bus nestled nicely next to my apartment key. He’d told me to spend time at his place any time I wanted to while he was gone, but aside from being a creeper and sleeping in his bed the first night I’d gotten home, I’d stayed at my place.

Bash:Have I told you how smart you are?

Bash:I’ll be at your place at seven. Give you time to get home and start dinner wearing just an apron.

I laughed.

Cassie:Such a stereotype. It’s dangerous to cook naked.

Bash:I said you could wear an apron. Safety first.

He ended the text with an apron, winking face, and heart emojis. Then he followed it up with an eggplant.

Typical.

Cassie:So considerate.

Bash:Just your standard considerate boyfriend over here. I know I say it every time we talk, but I really miss you and I can’t wait to get off this bus and get on you.

I snorted out a laugh.

Cassie:Truth comes out. You just want to get away from Jax.

Bash:Holy shit. He’s driving us crazy. And there’s some sort of smell coming from the fridge or a cabinet on this bus.

I should be glad I came home early.

Cassie:Don’t drive Charlie away with your boy grossness.

Bash:We won’t.

We wrapped up our texts with I love yous, and I tried to focus on work again but failed. He was a distraction of the worst and the best kind.
