She stirred against me, and I took in a deep breath, relishing this moment between consciousnesses, waiting for her to push me away.
“Crap. Did we really fall asleep? Shit. Sorry.” She lifted her head from my chest. “Umm, I might’ve drooled a bit.”
I chuckled. “It wouldn’t be the first time.”
She lightly swatted my shoulder. “Real nice, Bash. A gentleman wouldn’t bring that up.”
“I never said I was a gentleman,” I teased back.
“No. You didn’t.”
I stared at her face, holding in a breath as I tried to read her expression, hoping that we were still teasing and I hadn’t pulled us out of that moment by reminding her I wasn’t a nice guy. At least I hadn’t been with her. But I sucked in air again when the corner of her mouth tilted up in a smile.
