Page 63 of Seduced By Contract

"Who's being presumptuous now? I might want to end it sooner."

I walk over to her, press her against the wall, and whisper in her ear, "It's not going to happen. I'm addicted to you, and I won't stop until I get you addicted to me too."

I see the movement of her throat as she swallows hard. "I need to think about it."

"About the contract?"

"Yes. As for my job, there's no negotiating. If I agree to be your girlfriend, it'll be because I want to, not to be supported."

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

We're still somewhatangry with each other, and the silence, which I hate so much, has stretched throughout the entire drive to my house. The twins haven't woken up, so I'm sitting in the front seat.

I think the excitement of meeting a new person, combined with an unfamiliar environment, made them very agitated, and they eventually fell asleep from exhaustion.

Shortly after our argument, Eleanor called, letting me know she was on her way back home. Unfortunately, I had already informed Ares that I couldn't work, which means I'll lose a day's pay.

"You don't need to come up," I say when he parks in front of our building. "Just have one of the guys help me."

He ignores me and goes around to open my door.

How is it possible that I want to hit him and jump into his arms at the same time? Even though he's mad at me, Zeus is a gentleman.

Your gentleman, if you want to take this madness further,a voice in my head whispers.

The issue isn't wanting him. I'd have to be incredibly stupid not to desire someone like him as a boyfriend. It's the differences between us that are the problem.

I feel bad about the contract, but I can't trust him that much. I'm acting logically, trying to protect myself...so why do I feel like a gold-digger?

"I'll go up with you," he says after helping me out. He opens the back door and takes out the twins. To my surprise, he holds one in each arm, still asleep.

Seeing my niece and nephew with their heads resting on the shoulders of that powerful man completely erases any desire to fight.

"The babies are heavy," I say, walking ahead of him.

"I'm a big guy. I can handle them."

We have to climb two flights of stairs, but he seems fine, not even breathing harder.

The bodyguards are trailing behind with the strollers.

When I reach the floor of our apartment, Eleanor is waiting for us with the door open. Her face is stern, but it immediately softens when she sees Zeus carrying the children.

And here we go again. Another warrior down.

Me, Soraya, and now my stepmother, all falling under the Greek's spell.

"Mom, this is Zeus Kostanidis, but I think before introducing you properly, it's better to let him put the twins in their cribs."

Half an hour later, they're already chatting comfortably, and I'm amazed at how Zeus genuinely pays attention to everything Eleanor says. My stepmother is a straightforward woman and doesn't mince her words, so, to my embarrassment, she got straight to the point and told him that even though I was working at an exotic dance club, I was still a girl from a respectable family.

I wanted the ground to swallow me up, but when I looked at the man who now calls himself my boyfriend, he responded, unfazed, "I'm sure of that, ma'am."

He stands up, and I do too, ready to lead him to the door. But after excusing himself to my stepmother, he says he needs to talk to me privately.

We're in the hallway, and I feel awkward because of how Eleanor bombarded him with questions.
