Kayla would love it here, we always talked about having a big family and we finally got it. We’ve already made so many new memories, and there’s been so many firsts. Valentino and I got married a week ago and it’s been like a fairytale. My babybrother was able to come home and walk me down the aisle. He’s staying for another week and getting to know his new family. They’ve embraced him the same way they embraced Davis and me. Levi is saying he’s going to try and get stationed closer to us.
Davis will be a year old in two months, he’s grown so much since we’ve moved to Lake Renegade. He’s talking more and learning so many new things. He’s even started walking, it’s the cutest thing to watch him teeter-totter on his little legs. Especially in the snow, his first.
Today we’re doing a charity run, all the families do it every year. Some are in cars and others on their motorcycles. This year I’ll be on the bike with Valentino and Davis will ride with his grandparents, Grayson and the other kids.
“It’s freaking cold.” I laugh.
“Nah, it’s only thirty degrees. Just think warm thoughts,” Valentino teases me.
I punch him in the arm, but I’m pretty sure my hand hurt more than his arm because he’s laughing.
“You’re a dork.”
Valentino grabs me and kisses me.
“I love you. This is the best Christmas and it’s all because of you and Davis.”
“I was dreading Christmas after we lost Kayla. But being here with you has made it better. I still miss her so much, but I know she’s happy for me and for Davis.”
Riding on a motorcycle is the most freeing feeling. The wind blowing in your face makes you feel like you’re flying. But the helmet hair is real. So real that I need to remember to always bring a hat. And never ever leave my hair down, I did that on our first ride and my hair ended up looking like a bird’s nest.
Today’s ride is almost like a parade through the town. People are lining the sidewalks waving and cheering. And little onesjumping up and down. The rumble of all the motorcycles is incredible. I think today might be the best day we’ve had.
After the ride, we all get together in the campgrounds. Residents of Lake Renegade come to join us too. Valentino said they do this every year. It’s a big celebration for everyone to hang out and get to know any new people in town. They even have a huge bonfire going to help keep everyone warm.
There’s a pine tree in the middle of the property and it’s enormous, they even decorated for Christmas. I don’t know how they got up to the top, but they did and I love it. Davis can’t stop staring at it.
“Mama. Tree.” Davis giggles.
“That’s right! It’s a tree. Christmas tree, isn’t it pretty?”
Davis nods yes.
“Papa,” he says pointing to Valentino.
Every time I look at my husband, I get butterflies in my stomach. He’s so damn handsome. And it’s not just his looks, he’s a genuinely good man. He puts his family first and always makes sure we’re okay before he takes care of himself. And watching him with Davis? That makes me want to have babies now. There’s nothing sexier than watching your husband be a papa. Nothing.
Valentino comes over and wraps his arms around me and Davis. I turn around and kiss him, Davis gives both of us a kiss and giggles.
“Remember when you said you wanted more babies?” I say looking up at Valentino.
“I do.”
“Did you mean now? Or in the future?”
Valentino turns to look at me.
“Are you pregnant?” he smiles.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
He motions for Isabella to come and take Davis.
“Come hang out with Zia.” Isabella smiles as she kisses Davis’ face.
Valentino turns to me and kisses me passionately.
“I want babies. Lots of babies. Now and in the future.”
