"I'm not done with you," he says, but I shut the door in his face.
I groan, rubbing my forehead.
"Viper, are you okay?" I look up to see Iris and Rosa staring at me.
"Fine, thanks. Let's get out of here."
"Right." Iris glances at Rosa. "Are you coming with us?"
"No, I've got to stay here. Keep the peace with these new changes, you know."
"Okay. Well, see you tomorrow, I guess."
"Yep." Iris and I leave the club, and get into my car.
"You have a place where we can go?" she asks.
"Yeah."
"Okay. Let's go." As we drive away, the club disappears in the distance.
The city lights are dimmed, and the streets are dark.
"Where are we going, Viper?"
"To my place."
"Oh."
"Don't worry. I'm not going to make another move on you."
"What if I wanted you to?"
"Iris—"
"Never mind," she mumbles.
I don't reply.
I focus on the road and try not to think about the tempting woman next to me.
The woman I want to claim.
The woman who's mine, even if she doesn't know it yet.
I take the turn off the main road, and we wind down the familiar back roads.
"Viper."
"Hmm?"
"What happened back there?"
"With Lyon? Don't worry about it."
Her tone drops an octane. "I'm worried. I don't want you to get hurt. He's dangerous."
It's cute she's worried about me, even if she doesn't have to be. "He's not going to hurt me, Iris."
