Carmine coughed. “That’s his lover. From what I remember, Kingsley was the bottom.”
Gideon started cracking up, and then I felt Cam come out of the car and look at us like we were all idiots.
“We like to switch here and there,” I added dryly. “Can we get to business?”
“And who are you?” Carmine asked as he looked at Cam.
“None of your business,” I spat, standing in front of her, blocking her from his view.
Carmine smirked at me, and I immediately hated the fucker. I knew the moment he left us alone, he would try to get information on her, and my only hope was that her case was dead and cold.
They led us to the inside of the house. It was equipped with all the basic stuff: high windows, sturdy walls, a kitchen, some beds, and cameras in the hall that showed you the surroundings of the block.
“My uncle explained as much as he could to us. He said it was on a need-to-know basis between him and the pale bitch with the braid.”
Ah, so at some point, he had met Daphne, and that explained why G wanted to kill him.
“That pale bitch is mine,” Gideon growled.
“Here I thought you two were in a committed relationship,” Carmine added. “You were right.” He then looked at me and handed me a piece of paper. “There will be an event tomorrow. That’s the address where it will be held and the time.”
I knew Damian would not let this opportunity pass him by. He wanted to assert his power now that he had control over Yorovich’s men.
“He’s starting small, nothing too outrageous from what we gathered.”
Yeah, ’cause that would soon come.
“Thanks,” I told him.
Carmine gave me a nod, and then he and his brother cleared out along with their men, but one of them stayed.
“Why are you here?” Gideon pointed to Rafe.
His eyes came to me.
“I have reason to believe my father had something to do with the events that happened in New York a few years ago. I can’t prove anything, but I do know he had contact with the Russian Dragon.”
At this point, nothing surprised me anymore.
“Why are you telling me this?”
“I can’t exactly overthrow my father and brother without any proof. My own family will have my head.” Rafe left us standing there as he followed his cousins out.
So he wanted me to do his dirty work.
As soon as we heard the cars leave, the three of us began to check the place for bugs.
“Clear.” Cam was the last one to finish.
“You’re awfully quiet,” G stated as he plopped down.
“Just thinking.”
“About Katia?”
I could feel Cam’s gaze on mine, trying to figure out what we were talking about. I still needed to get some alone time to see where her head was at. I was proud of how strong she was standing right now despite the fact that her world was spinning on its axis. Everything was piling up, and I needed to fix us before we got buried in this bullshit.
“Who’s Katia?”
