“Come with me and Daddy,” she beamed like she was proud of herself.
My sister was smirking. Everyone was quiet at what they had just witnessed.
Quincy? He stopped breathing. He hugged Quinny close to him and when he pulled back, there were tears in both of our eyes.
“Your home will always be in the hearts of the people who love you.” Juliet spoke next to me.
I nodded and then hugged her.
“Thank you,” I whispered. Not just for that but for everything.
I was crying, but it wasn’t out of sadness. There were just so many emotions that they overwhelmed me.
“I love you, Jess.”
“Me too.”
She let go of me, and in front of everyone, I went with Quincy and Quinn. He opened his arm and I walked into it as he hugged us both tightly to him.
“What do you say?” he asked, full of hope.
“You’re not allowed to aband—
I didn’t finish that sentence, because he kissed me. The place went off with cheers.
“That’s enough, Hardwell, or your ass is going to jail!” Clark yelled.
With smiles on our faces, we pulled away and mingled with our friends and family.
“What did I tell you, kid?” Prescott said as he wrapped one arm around me.
“You planned this,” I glared at him.
This had been his end game when he made me come back home.
He smiled.“You’re welcome.”
He kissed the top of my head and began to walk away.
“You’re not staying?” I asked.
He looked at me, and then past me. I followed his gaze and felt sadness. He was looking at Jana and Rusty.
“I have things to do.”
We both knew it was a lie.
“Looks like you won’t be able to marry me anymore,” he joked.
I turned to look at Quincy and Quinn and smiled.
EPILOGUE
Quincy
The stadium was loud.I could feel the vibrations of the cheers in my chest. I had forgotten how this felt. The rush that came with being on a field blinded by all the lights was bliss. But even though I had missed this feeling, I knew that was nothing compared to what I had off the field now.
This game had broken my heart once, but now, looking back, I knew everything was how it was supposed to be. It taught me to appreciate the things that didn’t make noise.
