“I knew Mr. Giant was your boyfriend!” Charlie screeched.
That was when Q realized we had company. And I loved that he hadn’t noticed earlier.
“Hey, little man,” he said as he ruffled Charlie’s hair, then turned to see Avery there.
For the first time ever, I didn’t compare us.
“Avery,” he greeted her.
“You look good, Quincy,” she breathed.
He ignored it.
“If you’ll excuse us,” he said as he held onto my hand. “We have to go pick up our baby girl.”
I was so turned on just by that.
“Jessamine,” he said. “Don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
He stopped walking and pushed me against the wall, covering me with his body.
“Like you want me deep inside you until you can hardly breathe.”
Right. We kept walking.
When he opened the door to Emma’s, the only people there were our friends and family.
“What the hell?” I questioned.
“It’s a going away party,” Freya said.
My stomach sank and I turned to look at Quincy. He didn’t look any happier than I did. My eyes met the board for guidance, but for the first time there were no words written on it.
Freya walked up to the board with a chalk in her hand, and she began to scribble.
If the love of my life offered to ride off into the sunset, I would say when and where. -Jess.
When she stopped writing, she looked at me. “What’s stopping you?”
I opened my mouth to speak, and Rosie came toward me carrying Quinny.
“Mom said I could come for two weeks while you get settled.”
At this point, I was gaping while holding onto Quincy’s hand like my life depended on it.
“I don’t understand,” I told them.
I turned to look at Quincy for an explanation.
“This is news to me too,” he rushed out, and I believed him.
He let go of my hand and took Quinn into his arms.
“Tell mama you want to come with Q,” he told her.
My sister was there and whispered something to Quinny.
