“I don’t know. We need to tell Humberto that now. You know how these fuckers hate surprises.”

Nate groaned.

“I hate cartel fuckers. They think you can throw money around and that will fix shit. Not when ATF is breathing down our shoulders. “

He had a point, but we were already too far in this game to back out.

“We need to give him a heads-up.”

“Brother, I’d like to see you try. That fucker is crazy, and I don’t want him to take it out on any of us.”

“You fuck with one of us,” I said.

“You fuck with all of us,” he finished.

Gunner walked in, ready to ride. All the guys had left their cuts here. No insignias, just plain black clothing. We didn’t want anything pointing a finger back to the club.

“All right, boys,” he said but was cut off by Chops.

“Excuse me, I’m a man,” he said in his gravelly voice, causing a few chuckles to erupt.

“You look like a midget,” someone shouted.

“Enough.” Gunner sounded annoyed with all of us.

“Andre, Venom, Chops, I want you to stay and monitor the party. I don’t want Finley to burn down my bar.” Gunner gave them a pointed look.

I debated telling Duncan to stay with her because I didn’t trust that she would try shit just to get back at me.

“The rest of you know the drill.”

We all nodded.

I stepped forward.

“Gunner is going to give Humberto some news he’s not going to like, so if things get tense, try your best not to engage. We do not need bloodshed so close to home.”

People nodded in agreement.

“Now that it’s all settled, ride safe, my brothers.” Gunner looked at each and every one of us and then got on his Harley.

Before I got on mine, I pulled Andre aside.

“Anything happens to her. I’ll chop off your dick and feed it to you—slow.”

Finley

One thing I had never been too fond of was the club whores. Old ladies I liked, whores not so much. Mostly because they didn’t care who they slept with. I knew it was such a bitch thing to have this double standard, but I couldn’t help it. We were a family, and a whore threatened that.

Music blasted through the speakers, and people were having a good time. I was seated on top of the bar with Ace and Andre keeping me guard. I held on to a warm beer as I scanned the room.

I was bored.

I picked up my phone and checked my old school mail. I had gone away somewhere where I could hide but also where I could help out my family if the need ever arose.

“You having a good time, princess?” Andre leaned into me and asked.
