Can you go against your own brother?
The door to the study opened, and my father, Gunner, and Nate walked in.
“Where’s Huxley?” I asked with fear setting in my gut.
“At the Manor?” my father said, taking the paper out of my hands. He didn’t understand, and he didn’t know what had gone down.
Nate saw something in my face, and he pulled his phone out and started to bark out orders.
“How did we fucking miss this?” my father said, ignoring the message but asking about Leon hiding under our own noses.
“He knows everything about us,” Finley said. “He’s our shadow. Our own nightmare.”
“He’s fucking gone,” Nate said. “Chops and Andre saw him leaving the house in one of his cars.”
“Fuck,” I screamed, angry at how it all had gone down. I grabbed the glass chess queen and slammed it against the wall.
“He knows. Huxley knows we all lied to him,” I said, and my father dropped the paper he held in his hands. It all made sense to him now.
I walked to Finley and pulled her close to me because I didn’t want her to feel like this was her fault.
Leon was close to Huxley, and he knew what he craved, what he wanted, and then waited until the last moment to play his biggest card of all.
We won the battle, but with Huxley at his side, he could win the war.
Finley
A Few Months Later
Do you know what happens after the dust from chaos settles? Peace. At least temporary peace because it’s hard to be at peace when you keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“Baby.” Nash walked out of the shower with just a towel wrapped around his waist. Water droplets dripped down from his head and chest, making the V glisten and my mouth water.
He smirked when he saw me.
“Close your mouth, Fin, or I’ll put it to good use.”
I stuck my tongue out at him.
He shook his head and started to change. There was no time to fuck because we had a party to attend to.
Duncan took his vow today, and there would be a celebration here since the new clubhouse wasn’t ready yet.
Andre managed to track down one of the men who kidnapped us, and well, Duncan was all too happy to take the vow.
“We don’t have to go,” Nash said as he looked out the window to where I was staring.
After leaving my father’s office, we all looked for Huxley, but he was gone. There was no sign of him, and we knew that he would not be found until he was ready to come back or resurface again.
Sure enough, a few weeks ago, he was spotted in Mexico with Leon. By that point, we just didn’t speak of it, but we all knew we would cross that bridge when we came to it.
Nash and I moved our things to the top floor, taking over my tower and the surrounding rooms, making it into a little penthouse. Something more private for when we didn’t want to go downstairs.
It looked like it would storm later tonight, and bad, but I wasn’t scared anymore.
“A little rain doesn’t scare me,” I told him.
His eyes went soft. He had his pants on and was strapping on the Glock. Damn, was my man sexy!
