“What? I never lied to you. I would never lie to you.” Casimir shook his head, totally unaware that the other five players all were glaring at him now. A growing ache between my legs reminded me of what his mouth felt like sucking on my clit.

Shit.

I turned and ran. Tears stung my eyes. I would not let being an Omega take away my freedom and choice.

Now more than ever, I needed to get away from Winnipeg.

CHAPTER NINE – Maddox

I was going to kill Casimir.

Throwing down my stick and gloves, I launched myself at him and took a swing. He dodged and slid back into Tiergan who shoved him forward.

“Bastard,” Tiergan snarled and dropped his stick and gloves too.

“Get him!” Ewan hollered but stayed far out of reach of either of us.

The look on Kienna’s face when she saw him. I’d never seen anyone so devastated. She was crying as she fled the lounge. Crying!

My heart thumped hard. No one hurt Kienna and survived. I didn’t care if I killed him, if I lost everything because I murdered someone. Casimir was fucking toast.

“??? ????!” Casimir spat and chucked his stick down. His pale face was flushed and his teeth clenched. “Why are you fighting me? I need to go after her.”

“Stay the fuck away from her.” This time my fist connected with his gut. Satisfaction went through me at his grunt. Time to drive a punch all the way through his body. I’d wanted to beat the shit out of this fucker for a long time. Always a know-it-all, contradicting Kane on the tactics he set for our team, and acting too good to hang out with us.

Casimir blocked my next strike and pushed me back. “Stop with this shit. You have no idea what is between Kienna and I.”

Oh no. He did not just say that. My next punch grazed his chin.

Kane held up a hand between us, and I growled. My anger making so that everything else blurred in this world except mytarget. I was going to be the one to take Casimir down. Kane better not stop me.

“Whatisbetween you and Kienna, Velky?” Kane’s voice was sharp as a samurai sword.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing!

“That’s none of your business.” Casimir attempted to head toward the rink’s exit, but Tiergan and I blocked his way. The gall of this mother-fucker.

“Answer the fucking question.” Kane was on the edge himself, body shaking and a twitching of his cheek. He rarely ever lost his cool and had only one fight this season. Unlike me.

“Again, it’s not any of your business, but we’re compatible. I will ask her father permission to court her.” There was that better than you attitude. I hated it so much and threw another punch. He blocked me with his glove. “Back off, Moreau.”

“You can’t do that!” Tiergan snapped. “She’s compatible with us. Our pack—”

“She’s Birk’s daughter!” Kane yelled at the same time. “None of us should be messing with her. We’re a team. We have a good shot at winning the Calder Cup this year.”

Wewouldwin it. And we would have Kienna. She belonged with our pack. With me.

“We do have a good shot,” Casimir agreed. “And I won’t do anything to screw that up. I’m doing right by Kienna by speaking with her father about our compatibility. That’s the proper thing to do.”

“Proper asshole,” I snorted and spit at his feet.

He narrowed his eyes at me and clenched his jaw. “If you want to throw down, Moreau, we’ll throw down, but not right now. Kienna’s upset and—”

“Right now!” I plowed into him and we slid into the boards. The thud of the impact echoed in the empty arena as Istarted railing on him. It made me angrier that he only blocked my blows and didn’t hit me back. I wanted a fight. Ineededa fight.

“Maddox, stop!” Alderic pulled on one of my arms and I elbowed him back. “He’s right.” He was on that bastard’s side? He rubbed his chest where I knocked him and skated toward the exit. “Kienna needs us. I’m going to find her.”

Tiergan hissed through his teeth and growled in Casimir’s direction, but then followed Alderic. “Kienna’s more important than that shithead.”
