Loki held out from the climax that coiled inside him. He wanted to see it. Wanted to see her climax. Wanted to watch her fall over the edge between pain and ecstasy. It didn’t take long. Her nails dug into his chest, and then sucked in a sharp breath. He tried to rock her through her climax, but the sight of her was so blissfully erotic he couldn’t hold back any longer, and he climaxed as well.

When they both finished, she fell on his chest, where her heartbeat through his rib cage. He rubbed her back, touching the ridges where she hid away her wings. Their hearts thumped in unison, and he let his façade fall, revealing his true self to her again. She ran her fingers down his arm and laced her fingers in his before nipping his chest.

She took in his entire face. “You are much more handsome in your true form. I want you to save it only for me. For now, at least. I don’t want to share this part of you with anyone.”

He kissed her, and though they’d just finished, he already wanted her again.

CHAPTER 11

“Do you ever take a break?”Loki asked as Val pulled on her underwear.

“For what?” She slid her pants over her hips.

“Anything fun.”

Fun? She hadn’t had fun in forever. “I beat the crap out of Odin. And we killed those demons on the way back.”

“That’s what you consider fun?”

She shrugged. “It’s all the fun I’ve known for... forever.”

She appreciated Loki’s beautifully perfect body. Man, she wished she didn’t have to leave all seven feet of him lying naked on her bed, looking sexy as hell with his diamond-colored eyes and taut bluish frame. But she had a job and a responsibility and needed to keep her word.

“So, are you coming with me on Friday?”

Val stopped as she pulled her tank top over her head. “Friday?” She didn’t need to play stupid, but she was stalling for time.

“You know exactly what I’m talking about.”

“How can you call them family after everything they’ve done to you and everything you’ve been through?”

Loki straightened her blanket. “They are the only family I’ve known forever. They got me out of Valhalla. They helped me when I thought I would die from boredom.”

“That doesn’t mean they are family. It means they are people who did you a favor. But can you even call it a favor after everything you’ve been through?” She pushed her feet into her boots.

Loki stood from the bed and hugged her. “Please come with me.”

She tried not to catch his eye. He didn’t understand. Or maybe he did. She wasn’t sure. She’d hated Odin and Thor for so long that she didn’t know how to do or be anything else. She was sure he’d never understand if she told him. He would need to experience it for himself.

She extricated herself from his grip and held her hand out.

“You want to shake my hand? Wow. I don’t think anyone has ever shaken my hand after a great round of sex.”

“No, dummy. I’m not trying to shake your hand. I’m offering you my hand.”

His eyebrows smashed together. “You mean like marriage?”

She shook her head. He could be so thick sometimes. “Forget it.”

Loki caught her arm. “Wait.”

She turned, and he studied her. “You mean, you’re offering to let me do that thing you said you’d kill me if I ever did it again?”

Val swallowed hard. “Yes.”

“But... why?”

“Because I need you to understand. Need you to see why I hate Odin and Thor so much.”
