I shifted position and wrapped my arms around him, holding him tightly to me as I thrust in and out of him slow and deep, rolling my hips and nuzzling his cheek. “I’m here. I’m here with you.”
“You’ll stay? No matter what?” he eked out, grasping my biceps with shuddering hands, as I felt his tears spill onto my cheek against his.
“I swear I’ll do everything in my power.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“I need the four of us together.”
Fuck,so did I. Things could be no other way now.
I couldn’t imagine it being and I certainly couldn’t accept it.
“It will all be okay.”
His eyes rolled back in his head as he came, spurting all over my abs.
The sensation and all the intensity between us had me losing my rhythm as it took me over too, before I lost control and spurted deep inside him.
I went to ease out, but he tightened his hold on my biceps. “Not yet. Please.”
I reached out and stroked his hair. “Okay, baby bird. Okay.”
I held him to me and he relaxed against me, just lying there breathing me in.
“We’ll be okay?” he murmured.
“We will,” I assured him, and I saw some of the worry in his eyes dissipate at the confidence in my tone, the surety.
It was how I had to be in order to do any of this.
It was what I had to believe.
And it was what I’d bring into being through every ounce of power at my disposal too.
We would survive what was coming.
Just like we’d survived everything else.

I’d been searching out the cause of my dad taking longer than expected to return to our experiments after he’d left to make something for himself to eat and to bring me a couple of blood bags.
Thanks to my vampiric hearing, I now knew what the holdup had been.
I smiled to myself.
Who would have thought that Elliot Sabre would allow himself to be sidetracked from business by anyone? It had been a big enough deal that he’d even agreed to take a break.
I liked this woman for him.
It seemed she was bringing a much-needed balance to his life.
She was bringing out a humorous side to him that I rarely even saw myself.
