Is that too feisty?

Maeve: Never thought I would, but yeah, I do, Scales

Taran: Well, boss, better get used to hearing it, then

Maeve: What will the others think, though? When you call me boss?

Taran: I don’t really care.

Taran: The question is if you like it or not?

She took a moment to reply.

Maeve: You just made me blush and now my roommates are bombarding me with questions about who I’m talking to (we’re watching a film)

Maeve: And yes, I like it.

What had she told them? Perhaps I would ask her tomorrow, if I got a chance.

Taran: Good night, boss

Taran: Say hello to your roommates from me

Maeve: Good night, Scales. I’ll see you tomorrow

I stared at the little purple heart behind her message like a lovesick fool for way, waytoo long.

Chapter Nine

Maeve

All evening Tiff and Vaughn had nagged me to find out who’d made me blush over a text. But damn me, Scales!

I’d looked it up on Kraken and found out I either had a boss kink, or was a bit of a Domme, or both.

Him calling me boss had turned me on like crazy and I already half dreaded meeting him tonight.I’ll jump him if he does.

“Good morning, babes,” Tiff sang as she entered the kitchen, squeezing me to her side before busying herself with the jar of oats. We alwaysshared breakfast duty. I was in charge of the coffee, she made the porridge, and Vaughn took care of the toppings, since he really had a knack for it.

“So, heard from your secret admirer this morning?” he asked me in an offhand voice as he cut a pear into thin slices, raising an elegant eyebrow.

“I’m not telling you any more than I already did.” I rolled my eyes at him and started to foam some milk for our lattes.

“Oh, come on, babes! We’re so—” Tiff began, but I interrupted her with a snort.

“Nosy!”

“Curious, happy for you,” she corrected me with a nudge from her elbow.

“There’s nothing between us…”

“Yet,” Vaughn added dryly.

“Stop finishing my sentences for me, Mister Lee!” I fake scolded him, heavily rolling my eyes now. “Yet,” I reluctantly agreed, a grin fighting its way onto my face.

“If you ever need us to get out of the house, just let me know. In case you want to get to second base with …” Tiff stirred the porridge so it wouldn’t stick to the pan.

“Stop trying to get his name out of me,” I told both of them without any heat. Nope, thatwas all rushing down my body.
