“When are you leaving?” Jill asked, reaching over to run her fingertips along the torn silk wallpaper lining the walls as she made her way around the room.

“In the morning,” Logan said as she met his gaze.

“Then, I guess this is goodbye,” Jill said, watching as he pushed away from the wall and-

“Goodbye, Angel.”

CHAPTER 38

“Everything was taken offline beforeTattletalecould find it,” Tomas said as Logan ran his gaze over the devices laid out on the coffee table from his laptop to the children’s iPads before returning his attention to the file on his lap. “All of your devices had their Bluetooth capabilities disabled. We used software to block all network traffic, destroyed their cellular connection, and removed all of the modems and all of the evidence of our network from the penthouse.”

“The children’s devices?” Logan asked, not bothering to look up as he read through the daily reports his men sent in.

“They were alternating between several networks throughout the building to cover their activity. We kept the parental locks on the devices as well as the search restrictions, so ifTattletalelocked in on their activity, it only saw video games, movies, basic searches, and their schoolwork,” Tomas said before adding, “The same goes for your mate’s device.”

“What else?” Logan asked as he read through the report Gray sent in, hoping for something that would allow him to put an end to this.

“The power was shut off to all the cameras as soon as you left. They can’t be accessed remotely and neither can the old files through our servers since we’ve taken them offline. Everything was downloaded onto your computer before we terminated the feed,” Tomas explained as Logan thought that over.

“The system at the brownstone?” Logan asked, knowing that it was only a matter of time before Kale found out about the favor Izzy did for him and came looking for him at the brownstone. The only thing that he would find was two shifter Packs trying to blend in among the humans with absolutely no ties to him.

“Gray shut it down,” Tomas said after a slight hesitation while Logan thought about what that meant.

No security system.

No access to the surveillance on the building so that he could see what was coming.

No way to communicate with his men.

And absolutely no way to keep an eye on the brownstone remotely.

“Back in the dark ages,” Logan said, slowly exhaling as he flipped to the next report.

“How do you want to do this?” Tomas asked as Logan gave up reading the daily reports and closed the file, tossing it on the coffee table.

“Have the cameras and security panels throughout the building removed and destroyed,” Logan said, having absolutely no doubt that Izzy would be able to use her skills to find out what he was up to if he left them up. “Have the shifters guarding the building help Gray with the tunnel.”

“And the demons?” Tomas asked as Logan leaned back in his chair and took in the large bedroom that he’d decided to crash in for the night from the bed covered in a dust cloth to the largefireplace to his left before returning his attention to the demon watching him curiously.

“Have them stay in the city,” Logan said, knowing that he was going to need them once Pierce finally showed up.

“What else?” Tomas asked.

“Destroy everything,” Logan said as he debated how he was going to do this now that he’d lost the element of surprise.

“Already done.”

“Put a tracker on the children,” Logan said, rubbing his hands roughly down his face before dropping them away with a sigh. “Other than that, give them whatever they want.”

Tomas considered him for a moment before he asked, “Do you really think you’re going to be able to walk away from them?”

“I don’t have a choice,” Logan said, watching as the demon thought that over as he stood up and-

“No, you don’t, do you?” Tomas murmured, sending him one last curious look before he headed for the door, leaving Logan sitting there, wondering what the hell he was still doing here.

He should have left as soon as Tomas showed up this afternoon and taken advantage of the fact that every shifter, vampire, demon, and Sentinel within two hundred miles was currently scouring Manhattan looking for him. He needed to use this turn of events to his advantage and try to lure Pierce out, but instead, he was sitting here, thinking about last night and-

Christ, she was dangerous, Logan thought as he stood up and made his way to the bathroom. He needed to stop thinking about her, he told himself as he pulled his belt loose. Grinding his jaw, Logan toed off his shoes and shoved his pants down along with his boxer briefs. He pulled off his socks and tossed them aside before he reached into the small shower stall and turned it on, determined to stop thinking about her and-
