“The camera?”Logan said as soon as the demon stepped into the room.

“Is being replaced now,” Tomas said while Logan settled back in his chair as he waited for the small black square that should have been fixed by now to start working.

“It should have been replaced as soon as I gave the fucking order,” Logan drawled on a bored sigh as his gaze flickered to the rest of the small images filling up his iPad. He watched as men came and went with new furniture to replace the furniture that he’d destroyed, the cleaners make quick work of the mess he’d left behind while others carried ladders, tools, and paint into the bedroom that he still couldn’t fucking see.

“Gray said that he had his hands full with your guest,” Tomas said, dropping down on the couch with a heavy sigh.

“Has she been fed?” Logan asked, allowing himself one last glance at the screen before he shifted his attention back to his laptop and waited for the list to finish updating.

“She tried to fight it, but he eventually managed to convince her to eat,” Tomas said after a slight hesitation.

“How?” Logan asked as the list finally finished updating.

“He had to use the feeding tube,” Tomas said as he helped himself to the book that Logan left on the coffee table.

“Any problems?” Logan asked, scrolling through the list, making sure that Jill’s name hadn’t made a reappearance and absently noting that most of the occupants of the Williams mansion were on the list.

“He said that she was nervous, but once he was able to get blood in her that she calmed down and was able to relax enough to go into the closet and wait while everything was fixed,” Tomas said as he tossed the book back on the coffee table. “This isn’t like you.”

“Meaning?” Logan murmured absently as he scrolled to a stop on a familiar name.

Kale Quinn.

He took in the bounty on the shifter’s head before shifting his attention to the left to see who’d posted the bounty and sighed. Fucking Vane. He knew better than to go after Kale, Logan thought as he scrolled down the page and took in the fifty-million-dollar bounty on the one thing that was going to bring him one step closer to ending this.

“You don’t normally make a habit of taking in strays,” Tomas said, making Logan’s lips twitch as he clicked on the name of the woman that was going to help him destroy Kale.

“No, I don’t,” Logan murmured in agreement as he typed in his username and password.

“What’s different about her?” Tomas asked, sounding genuinely curious as Logan raised the bid on Kale’s mate by ten million dollars.

“I need you to find out something for me,” Logan said instead as he closed the laptop and focused his attention back on the iPad.

“What do you need?” Tomas asked as Logan focused back on that black square as it flickered back to life.

“I need you to find a way to remove my mark before you hand her back over to the Sentinels.”

CHAPTER 7

He really was an asshole, Jill thought as she stumbled out of the closet and managed to grab onto the doorframe before her legs gave out. Closing her eyes, she slowly exhaled as she willed her trembling legs to move only to drop her forehead against the doorframe when another wave of dizziness threatened to drop her on her ass and-

“You need to eat, Angel,”came the softly spoken words from what sounded like a speaker that had her sighing.

“Yeah, I’ll get right on that,” Jill said, tightening her hold around the doorframe as she struggled to ignore the pain radiating from the last “demonstration.”

Slowly exhaling, Jill opened her eyes and used her hold on the doorframe as she forced her legs to move. She ignored the cramps tearing through her legs, the pounding at the back of her skull and the nausea that was making it worse and focused on making it to the bathroom and-

That was enough.

Right now, she didn’t want to think about how she got here, the fact that she’d died or that her worst nightmare had come true. She just wanted to focus on this one completely mundane task before she had to face reality. So, with that, Jill slid her handfrom the doorframe onto the wall and kept moving, forcing one foot in front of the other as she focused on the doorframe only a few feet away and-

Released a groan when the move caused her legs to give out and dropped her on her ass with a pained grunt. Closing her eyes, Jill fisted her hands against the carpet as she tried to push herself back up only to have a wave of nausea keep her where she was. Biting back a curse, she slumped against the wall and swallowed hard as she willed her stomach to calm down. When that didn’t work, Jill dropped her head back against the wall and slowly exhaled.

“You shouldn’t need to feed this soon,”Logan murmured, sounding thoughtful while she debated pointing out that it probably had something to do with his lackey torturing her only to decide against it. Thanks to Candy, she knew better than to let anyone know how they could hurt her. That was one lesson that her mother taught her that she would never forget.

Needing something else to focus on other than the fact that she felt like she was dying, Jill opened her eyes only to immediately close them when the soft overhead light sent sharp pain tearing through her head. At least the excruciating pain tearing through her head was stopping her from having a nervous breakdown, Jill thought, feeling her lips twitch only to follow that up with a wince when the move somehow managed to send more pain shooting through her skull.

When the sound of someone walking into the room tore through her head, Jill found herself wondering if she was on the verge of bloodlust. That was followed by feeling like she was going to be sick when a heavy metallic odor teased her seconds before what felt like a plastic straw was pressed against her lips.
