He looks worried and mouths, “Are you okay?”

Isabella continues to sob in my lap, and I give Grayson a thumbs up.

I scan the faces of the others as they stand there with shocked expressions. Harper shouldn’t be surprised. We see bad shit every day but not in this unknown environment, so I can see why she is confused.

Landon and Wesley don’t know me at all, and Noah hasn’t ever seen this side of me, so their shocked expressions make sense. Except Wesley looks like he's more pissed off than before. I’m starting to put together that that may be how he looks all the time.

I focus my attention back on Isabella. She continues to cry for what feels like another hour.

I continue running my hand up and down her back until she sits up. She gives me an apprehensive look and says, “Can I go to the hospital now? Do you know if my dad will be there?”

“Yeah, we can go. I don’t know about your dad, but I can ask." Pausing, I ask the question that has been in the front of my mind since I saw her, "Isabella, sweetie, how old are you?”

Her eyes cast down to her splint. “I’m nineteen.”

My heart shatters. This poor girl is still so young and has been through hell.

I stand and Noah is at my side in seconds.

“Hey, she wants to go to the hospital and wants to know if her dad is going to be there.”

Noah calls Landon over and reiterates what I just told him.

Landon keeps his distance but crouches down in front of Isabella. “Your dad is almost to Seattle. He was going to come here but if you want, he can meet us at the hospital.”

“Yes, please. Everything is starting to hurt really bad.”

Landon nods. “I’m going to call him right now. Do you want to talk to him, or do you want to wait?”

“I’ll wait. My head hurts and I don’t want to cry again right now.”

Landon looks to me for guidance.

“She just cried for over an hour," I tell him. "It's normal for her head to hurt.”

I scan the room looking for Grayson and find him still sitting on the couch. I’m happy to see he’s awake and not sleeping. I can tell he’s going to argue, but he needs to get checked by a doctor for a concussion and possibly some scans too. And I’m not going to let him get out of it.

“Isabella, we need to get you into the truck. Is it okay if Noah carries you? I’ll walk beside you the entire time.” I ask.

She takes a moment to think about it but eventually agrees.

I smile at her. “I’m going to check on Grayson, but you can see me the entire time. I just need to tell him something and then we can go.”

I wait for her to give me the okay and head over to him.

He stops his conversation with a very chatty Harper. “Hey, Angel. You did great. Is she ready to go to the hospital?" he asks while standing and pulling me to his chest.

I wrap my arms around him and rest my chin on his chest, looking up at him. “Yup, and so are you.”

That makes him chuckle. “Nice try. I’ll ride with you, but I don’t need a doctor.”

I stand my ground. The boy can argue with me till the cows come home and I won’t fucking budge. He’s seeing a doctor even if I have to drag his six-foot-two ass into that hospital myself.

“I wasn’t asking. You’re getting checked out. Don’t argue with me right now, caveman.”

Harper chimes in. “I wouldn’t argue with her. This is bossy bitch Logan. And she’s tired. I suggest you just sayyes babeand get it over with.”

A sexy smirk spreads across Grayson’s face. “Angel, you know how much I love it when you get sassy.”
