Page 23 of Accepting Fate

“You’re welcome. Let me wrap this up real quick and you’ll be good to go.”

After setting her up with healing ointment and a care routine, we make our way up front. Cass must have gone out because it’s just us in the shop. I sit behind the computer and get Logan checked out.

“Alright well thank you so much,” she says while handing me cash I really don’t want to take from her. “Ink therapy was definitely the thing I needed.”

She turns to walk away, and I know I need to do something. This was fate or something and I can’t hope that it happens again.

“Hey Logan?”

She turns around, “Yeah?”

“Can I see you again?”

She looks confused, “I don’t know when I’ll be ready for another tattoo, but I promise to come back here for my next one.”

I scratch at my beard, “That’s awesome but I was more so thinking in a different setting. Maybe drinks at the bar or dinner?”

She shifts her phone around in her hands, “Umm that’s really nice but I don’t know if that would be appropriate considering how we met.”

Shit. Think, Grayson. Think.

“I understand and I know that was a horrible situation. And I don’t want to be a reminder of that, but I really like you. I know we just met but I haven’t had that easy of a conversation with someone in a while.”

Logan is looking at me like I have five heads. Shit. She’s going to say no.

“It’s just drinks,” I add quickly. “I can pick you up or you can meet me there. Whatever you’re comfortable with.”

I can see her wheels turning. She’s considering all the possibilities. I don’t blame her. If I were her, I’d have my guard up, too.

After what feels like an eternity she nods. “Okay. I did have a good time today. And you don’t seem like a creep or weirdo. The only issue is my work schedule is crazy. I don’t know when my next day off after today is. I don’t know what your expectations are, but you might not be looking in the right place.”

I walk around the desk and stand right in front of her, causing her to look up at me. “I don’t expect anything. I think you’re an awesome person and I want to get to know you better. If I have to wait for a month I will. Just give me one chance.”

I expect her to take a step back, but she stands her ground. She nods and holds out her hand, “Give me your phone, giant.”

I laugh and take my phone out of my pocket, unlocking it, and handing it to her.

“Hmm. Classic man background. Nothing,” she says as she types in her number and calls herself. After a few rings, she hangs up and gives me back my phone.

I take it and put it in my pocket, “Well I am a man so the background fits.”

Logan shakes her head and steps towards the door. I think she’s going to just leave it at that and walk out but she turns to face me with her hand on the door handle. “I never do shit like this. So, I’m warning you, if you stand me up or I don’t hear from you, that’s your only chance. Don’t blow it, big guy.”

With that, she walks out and I turn back to head toward my desk.

Sitting down I take my phone out and find her number. After saving her contact, I text her.

Grayson: Wouldn’t dream of it Angel.

Chapter Eight

Logan

LeavingTheNeedle,Ifeel a mix of happiness and nervousness. I haven’t been asked on a date in forever and now I have a potential date with Grayson.

Getting in my car and making my way back home I have a million thoughts. I consider checking out the bar, but I think one Grayson is enough for the day. I want to know more about him, but I’d rather learn it from him than his brother.

When I get home and lock up, I collapse on the couch, kick off my shoes so my tattoo can breathe a little, and take out my phone. My lock screen is a picture of Harper and me on Nurse’s Day at the hospital last year, dressed in matching MRMC t-shirts. Harper is sitting in my lap at the nurses’ station holding up a middle finger and we are laughing our asses off.Good times.
