Wow. I thought he was going to say he was a drug addict or something. Not that this is any better.

I know I should feel sad, but I never knew the guy. I share his DNA, but I don’t know anything about him. It’s not the same as grieving the loss of my mom and the Evans family. I wish I felt something, but I honestly feel relieved. If he was alive, I would feel some obligation to seek him out when the family I need is right here, plus Allie.

Grayson’s arms tighten around me, and Willow sits up, resting her head on my legs. The rest of the family doesn’t seem to be paying attention and if they are, they're doing a great job at pretending they aren’t.

"Angel?” Grayson says, sounding worried.

"Sorry. Thank you for telling me,” I say to Landon, ignoring Grayson.

Landon looks surprised by my reaction. "You’re welcome.” He pets Willow’s head and stands to walk over to Conrad who is bringing pizza inside.

Grayson turns my face to look at him, his eyes full of worry. "Angel, do you want to talk about it?”

"No. I didn’t know the guy. I don’t really feel anything, to be honest. Is that bad?”

"Not at all, Angel. But if you ever do, that’s alright too. I will be here to help you through it.”

I know he will. He is my forever and as he said in his proposal, he is my light too.

We are all sitting around the fire, laughing as Noah shakes his drunk ass in Wes’s face.

Wes looks like he is going to punch Noah. I am laughing so hard, my side hurts. All of a sudden, Shelly jumps up and starts doing the Macarena and everyone who was holding back loses it.

I love this family.

Grayson is trying to subtly sneak his hand up my shirt when I feel my phone vibrate in my lap.

An unknown number appears on the screen and something in my gut tells me to answer it.

"Hello?”

Grayson stops and taps me on the shoulder, silently asking me who it is.

I shrug and a small voice comes through the speaker. "Logan?”

I look to Grayson in complete shock, almost dropping my phone. "Allie?”
