Rinnon put his arm over Jacques’ shoulder and tucked him under his arm in a sign of solidarity.
“Mambo, let me make this perfectly clear,” he said. “If you try anything that will hurt myself, my vessel, my woman, or my mate, I will get mean. I may not have all of my memories back, but I do know how to send you right back to Death. This time, though, you will go to Deaths’ dungeon for an eternity of torture.”
She got the picture.
And it wasn’t pretty.
“I will help you, and my price will be some time with my son. That’s all I want. I want to make sure he’s okay, and that he’s not suffering.”
Rinnon held out his hand.
Well, Flynn’s hand.
“Then, it’s a deal?”
She signed her fate.
“It’s a deal.”
And just like that, they had their Voodoo priestess, and were ready to stop Mathew.
Only, now, Mambo had to hope and pray her son wasn’t terrified when he saw her.
Oh…
And that he still had her things.
What this demon God wanted was a massive spell that would take everything she had.
They would be lucky if she could pull it off.
Chapter Eleven
Death’s Realm
His Personal Space
Check In Time
Jacques had to get back to his realm to make sure that everything was running smoothly. With fate contained there, now also buried in his office wall, like his father was in Rinnon’s lair, it was better to keep checking in.
Fate was tricky, and once in his office, he wasn’t shocked to find that Fate was trying to lure his minions into helping him.
In fact, he was betting on that.
He wasn’t shocked at all.
It was a way he could find who was loyal, and who wasn’t. That was important in his world. He needed to be hyper aware of who would betray him, and destroy them.
Yes, destroy.
Death didn’t play around.
Brigit was waiting for him to return, and the second he walked through the wall, she warned him as to what was going on there.
Yes, it appeared that he had some business to attend to after all. The betrayers were making themselves known.
Slowly digging Fate out of her prison were a few beetles she’d managed to bribe. Well, that wouldn’t do, now would it?
