Because they were hella confused.

Now, her arms were wrapped around him, but his were up in the air, as he tried to escape her grasp.

“God, Son, I missed you,” Barb Brogan admitted. “I missed hugging you, my boy.”

Flynn just stood there, frozen as he watched it all play out.

When his father did the same thing, it was too much for him to handle.

He was going to be sick.

His fight or flight response kicked in, and for the first time, in a long time, Flynn opted to run.

FAR.

Rinnon! Please! Get me out of here!he begged, knowing he wasn’t going to be okay.I can’t be here with them!PLEASE!

The demon God was confused.

Flynn, what is wrong? Why are you so upset? Shouldn’t you be happy?

He tried to articulate it as best as he could, but his brain was shutting down, and his panic was palpable.

They are dead. They shouldn’t be here. I need a moment. I need a break. I can’t do this. Please. God. Please! Help me.

By the tone in his voice, Rinnon knew this was bad, and he wasn’t messing around.

Set me free.

Flynn didn’t stop him from coming out, and that was saying a whole lot.

It was rare he willingly let The Big Scary out for no reason.

If he wasn’t happy to see his dead parents, the least he could do was save the man.

His heart was going way too fast, and that told Rinnon this could go bad. Flynn had fought monsters and never felt like this.

He was worried.

Because he was no longer in control, Flynn’s body morphed, and the man went deep inside himself. He went so deep that even Rinnon couldn’t feel him anymore.

Yep.

That was a bad thing.

Someone was freaked out over all of this, and it was Rinnon’s duty to protect his vessel when he needed it.

Oh, and he definitely needed it.

As his wings ruffled, and he stood there, he pushed the woman and man away from him with a wave of his hand.

They slid backward on the floor, until they were far enough away from him that Flynn wouldn’t panic any further.

“Please stay there. My vessel doesn’t want you hanging all over him. You’re upsetting him,” he said, and then looked at Jolie and Jacques.

It was time to protect the man who had died and suffered for him.

“Death, watch our woman. Flynn wishes to be somewhere safe. I am leaving now.”
