“Let me get ready for bed and I’ll be up.” She stood, holding out her hand.

I thought it was a weird gesture until I stood and wobbleda bit. I never wanted to feel like this again and knew it was time to take the advice of Delaney’s therapist.

“Don’t be too long. I’ll probably pass out as soon as I hit my pillow.” I pulled Josie into a hug, burying my face against her neck. “Thank you.”

“Give me a few minutes.” She stepped back, her hands lingering on my biceps before she turned and went into her bathroom.

As I left and headed upstairs, I felt like I was headed down the right path for the first time in a long time.

Chapter 19

Mr. Koala

Josie

I was sleepingin my boyfriend’s bed.

Holy shit. Gabriel Badden was my actual boyfriend.

I’m not proud to admit that I did an internal squeal as I lay there next to him, my back to his front. He was already asleep, having passed out as soon as he threw his arm around me, trapping me against him.

Me? I was too keyed up to sleep.

I’d hoped it would lead to this, but now that we were here, I had some decisions to make. He would eventually find out about Sarah Swoon and friends, but I didn’t quite know how to tell him about it.

With my dad, it was easier because I could jump into my car and leave. That wasn’t an option here. After his reaction to his brothers telling him about it, I didn’t have high hopes he’d love the idea of me continuing to do it.

Especially the OnlyFans content.

The YouTube views, comments, and likes were one thing, but in some sick, twisted kind of way, I got more of a high from people paying for it. Plus, it wasn’t like it was all creepy old men—most of the subscribers were women.

So what if I answered X-rated questions with even more X-rated answers, or read smut? It was no different than someone reading a romance novel.

Now, that was an idea. Sarah Swoon could write a novel.

My eyes shut as my mind whirred with a nightly lullaby of thoughts and ideas. A sound pulled me from the brink of sleep, and my eyes opened to find Delaney staring back at me.

This kid really needed to stop with the horror-film-level appearances.

She hugged a stuffed Simba to her chest and was doing a little twist like she was impatiently waiting for something.

“Hey, there. You scared me.” I reached out my hand and she took it, climbing onto the bed. “Why aren’t you asleep?”

“I wanted to see Daddy.” She peered over me before she lay down, her head sharing my pillow. “Did you want to see him too?”

Gabriel hadn’t talked about how we were going to explain this to her, so I would have to wing it, since he didn’t seem to be at all bothered by the soft talking right next to him.

“I did. Were you surprised to see me?” I tucked my hand under my cheek, watching her little mind process things. Seeing the wheels turning and her expressions was one of my favorite things.

“Yes. In the movies, only mommies and daddies sleep in bed together.” Oh, boy, here we go. “But my mommy neverslept over.” Her face fell, and she looked down at her Simba.

“Not all mommies and daddies have sleepovers. Sometimes daddies snore too loud, so the mommy sleeps in another room.”

She scrunched her nose, a soft giggle escaping. “Daddy doesn’t snore, but he never had a mommy here. You’re not a mommy...”

“No, but sometimes when two grown-ups like each other a lot, they like to have sleepovers.”

“To pretend to be mommies and daddies?”
