Page 90 of Stuck On Them

“Bull shit, Paige.” He moved from the doorway, and I could see him looking me up and down from the reflection in the mirror. “Have you fucked all of them? Is that why they all kept glancing at you the whole damn meeting like you hung the fucking moon?”

“You’re delusional.” I turned the water off, my jaw throbbing with tension.

“Look at me and tell me you haven’t fucked at least one of them.” Why was he doing this? Why did it matter?

I looked at him through the mirror but wasn’t going to give him ammunition to be an asshole. “You don’t work at Thompson and Turner anymore?”

He ran his hand over his hair, making a mess of the neatly styled brown strands. “My dad was pissed thatyouleft so he fired me.”

“You mean he was pissed that you cheated on me causing me to abruptly quit?” He wasn’t about to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault his dad ousted him from the firm.

His jaw clenched and I could tell he was balling his fists in his pockets. “What will my new bosses think when they find out these guys are sexually harassing an employee?”

“You’re so full of yourself. We’re over. We’ve been over since you stuck your dick in someone else.” I couldn’t believe he was confronting me like this in a bathroom of all places.

He snorted and crossed his arms over his chest. “So, I’m right? You’re sleeping with all three of them? They are taking advantage of you, Paige. This has lawsuit written all over it.”

“I love them.”

“You love them?” He threw his head back and laughed, the sound cutting me straight through my heart. “They’re taking advantage of you, and I won’t stand for it. You and I might not be together anymore, but I still care about you.”

I was trying so hard not to cry, but the sting behind my eyes was getting harder and harder to stop. “They’ve done nothing wrong. I met them before I even worked here. You need to leave.”

He stared at me in silence for longer than was comfortable before speaking again. “They’ll get bored with the sick little game they’re playing with you, and then what, Paige?”

Bile rose in my throat as he hit one of my biggest insecurities right on the fucking head. I swallowed it down but was unable to stop the tears from spilling over. “How did I ever think I actually loved you?”

He grabbed my arm as I tried to walk past him. “We were supposed to get married tomorrow.”

“Let me go,” I said through clenched teeth.

He let me go with a sigh, and I practically ran out of the bathroom, careening right into Ethan, who’d just been standing there. Oh my God. Had he been listening?

“Paige.” The way he said my name sent a chill down my spine. He moved me out of the way as Daniel exited the bathroom, adjusting his tie.

He glanced between us, rolled his eyes, and then walked around the corner.

“All you have to say is the word and I’ll get a shovel.” Ethan enveloped me into a hug, and I bit down on my lip so hard to stop myself from breaking down that I drew blood. “Why didn’t you say something?”

“You were listening?” I pulled away, wiping the tears that had escaped with the back of my hand.

“I saw him follow you in there and yeah… I cracked the door just enough to hear. I would have come in and punched the shit out of him, but I had been hoping you would.”

I shook my head and wrapped my arms around my stomach. “I can’t do this.”

“Fuck. Okay. Do you want me to go get the guys?” He leaned back and peered around the corner.

“No. I… fuck. I told Luca we’d eat in his office. I can’t go back over there like this… I don’t want them to know, Ethan. This could ruin their deal.” I was starting to panic, my breaths coming faster and faster.

What if Daniel said something? What if one of my guys started a fight? What if. What if. What if.

“Hey. Shh.” Ethan took my hands in his. “Here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to go get your bag from your office and bring it to you so you can leave. Then I’ll tell them that you were projecting out of both ends-”

“Ethan.” I snorted a laugh despite everything.

“I’ll take minutes for the meeting and try my best not to strangle this Daniel guy.” He nodded his head like his plan was the best in the world. “Go wait by the elevator. Is your phone in your bag?”

“Yes.” I squeezed his hands. “Thank you, Ethan.”
