“I’d rather you wear my shirt.” He gathered the extra fabric and tied it in a small knot on my hip. “Is this okay?”
He’d tied it so the shirt barely touched the top of my shorts and if I moved a certain way revealed a sliver of skin. Normally, I wouldn’t dare show even a hint of skin there, but if he wanted me to, I would.
“It’s perfect.” I ran my hand down the front of it, smoothing the wrinkles. “Everyone is going to know what we were up to.”
“I don’t care what anyone thinks.” He gathered the towels and put them in a hamper in the corner. “Ready? There’s probably more champagne and snacks by now.”
“I probably should stay away from the alcohol, but I could definitely go for a snack after that workout.” I took his hand as he held it out to me, and we exited the gym.
The air was cooler than it had been when I’d gone into the gym and the breeze from the yacht moving whipped a loose strand of hair into my face.
“Here.” Garrett let go of my hand and moved behind me, pulling my hair tie free. “Do you want me to braid it really quickly? My sister always used to need hers done so I learned how.”
“Yes, please.” I felt a bit emotional as he ran his fingers through my hair and positioned me so the breeze wouldn’t hit it as he worked.
“I’d prefer it down, but I wouldn’t want you to get it all tangled.” He worked quickly, and I closed my eyes, savoring the touch. “Well, actually, a ponytail is nice to grab on to.”
I snorted. “I didn’t think I’d be into it, but I wish you’d pulled harder.”
His hands stopped moving and he put his mouth against my ear, making my skin prickle with goosebumps. “That can be arranged.”
Laughter came from the deck above us, and Garrett kissed my neck before returning to his task.
How was it that in such a short time, I already felt myself falling for all three of them?
“Are you okay? You got all quiet.” He tied off the end of the braid and took my hand.
“Just thinking.” I turned and smiled. “Let’s go before they send a search party.”
He took my hand and led me up to the flybridge. It was the very top of the yacht and had a large sectional at one end, a table with chairs under the hard top.
Ryker and Luca noticed me immediately and their gazes burned into me as they watched us walk toward them to the sectional where everyone was gathered.
There was just enough space between Ryker and Luca for me to squeeze in, so I let go of Garrett’s hand and sat there. I really wished we were alone to figure out this group thing without an audience. I didn’t know how to act and I was sure they didn’t either.
Ryker leaned in so only I could hear. “You look freshly fucked. It’s a good look, although I’m not too keen on you wearing his shirt.” He pinched the material before dropping his hand to my thigh and squeezing possessively.
“We were just talking about you,” Harper said from across the table that had an array of drinks and an impressive charcuterie board.
“A bunch of gossips.” Garrett sat down next to his sister and reached for an unopened can of hard seltzer.
“If you want us to gossip, we can talk about why she’s wearing your shirt but is now cozied up between Ryker and Luca.” Ethan offered me a seltzer and I shook my head, leaning forward and grabbing a bottle of water instead.
“We were telling Ryker all of the benefits of hiring Paige to come back as your assistant.” Libby smiled across the table at me. “We just about had him convinced.”
“Oh?” I took a drink and looked at Ryker and then Luca. “What about you?”
“I don’t need any convincing.” Luca slipped his hand behind me and rested it on my hip. His fingers immediately began stroking the skin above the waistband of my shorts. “You’re the best assistant we’ve ever had.”
I laughed and put my hand on his knee, which was somewhat in my space since he had his ankle on the other one. “I literally worked for you for an hour.”
“Best hour of our lives.” He raised his glass to his mouth but didn’t drink it until he said, “Imagine if you’d worked for us for six... or nine.”
Ryker’s hand tightened on my thigh. “I’ll talk to Sue and get you a position in another department.”
“Oh, come on, man. We haven’t found anyone yet, and it would be perfect.” Luca leaned forward so he could see Ryker. “Or is your willpower to remain professional that weak?”
Ryker tensed, and I put my hand over his. He was so on edge all the time when it came to work, it was concerning.
