Page 27 of Stuck On Them

“I just got out of a meeting with Sue, Javier, and Fatima. They’re drawing up termination paperwork and a severance package. Is there anything that we legally need to be concerned about?”

“Uh…”

“Uh? Uh, what? You just had lunch together, right?” My hand was starting to hurt from how hard I was clutching it.

He cleared his throat. “I may have kissed her.”

It was my turn to be silent.

“And I may have licked her cleavage in broad daylight. In my defense, I couldn’t let perfectly good mustard go to waste.”

“Have you lost your ever-loving mind? What are we supposed to do now? That’s sexual harassment!”

“You’re ridiculous. Go ahead and fire her if you want. I’ll just pick up the pieces you leave in your miserable wake.” He hung up.

I tried to call him back and went straight to voicemail.

All-consuming heat flooded my body. How could he be so careless? He’d taken a huge risk with his actions.

A chat box popped open on my computer, distracting me from the spiral I was inevitably headed down.

Fatima:Here is the paperwork. It has what we discussed.

I quickly double-clicked on the attachment and skimmed through it. It was the same we gave every employee except for the glaringly craptastic reason for termination.

Me:Looks good. Go ahead and send it. Once she e-signs let me know and I’ll have security escort her out of the building.

I wanted to be done with this even if, somewhere deep inside, I didn’t really want to be done with her.

Blue Alien Cock

Paige

“You hussy!” Nora squealed in my ear after I recounted my lunch date with Garrett. I’d just gotten back to my office and promptly shut the door to call my best friend.

“And then he walked me back to the office, waved me goodbye, and disappeared. I feel like I’m on some kind of gotcha show and at any moment a camera crew is going to pop up with John Quiñones. So, the question is, what would you do?” I knew what Ishoulddo, but I kept looking at my bank account.

“Enjoy the ride… or should I say rides? How does the penis piercing guy feel about all of this?”

“His name is Luca, and I don’t know. He seemed unfazed after the initial shock wore off.” I logged into my laptop. “Well, fuck. Looks like I don’t need to worry about it. I’m being fired.” With a heavy sigh, I clicked on the email with the subject line ‘Termination of Employment’ and opened the DocuSign.

“They can’t do that! Can they?”

“I’ve only been employed here for a few hours. They can do anything they want. I should have known it was too good to be true. Being hired for a position I didn’t apply for and to have an immediate start? Red flags. Red flags everywhere.”

“Sometimes the best experiences come from ignoring the red flags. What does the email say?”

“We are writing to inform you of the termination of your employment with LRG Marketing, effective immediately. This decision has been made due to a conflict of interest that has arisen, which was unknown at the time of your hiring. Specifically, it has come to our attention that you have had a personal relationship with your direct supervisor, Ryker St. James.

“As an employee of LRG Marketing, it is important to maintain a professional environment and avoid any conflicts of interest that may compromise the integrity of our company. Your previous relationship with your supervisor creates a potential bias and may lead to concerns regarding fair treatment and objectivity in the workplace. To ensure the best interests of the company, we have made the difficult decision to terminate your employment.”

The document on the page began to blur as hot tears threatened to fall. I blinked a few times, trying to clear them away, but the words remained nothing more than a jumbled mess.

“Those fuckers! I’m getting on a plane right now to come kick their asses.” She was trying to lighten the mood, but her declaration on my behalf made the tears fall.

My eyes latched onto the word severance pay. “They’re giving me six weeks’ pay. That’s...”
