Page 7 of Wolf Forsaken

A small part of me wanted to jump in my car and head for the hills. I had friends who could protect me, but that would mean revealing myself to more than just Riley, and I wasn't sure that was a wise idea.

The other part of me wanted to go show Dante who he'd fucked with. The anger I felt toward him was threatening to bubble over, and my wolf's sole focus was on ripping his throat out. He'd caught me off guard, and I wouldn't let that happen again.

I rubbed my chest and took surveillance of the front again. I needed to save my mates.

A crazed laugh bubbled out of me, and the next thing I knew I was full on sobbing. I didn't sign up to almost die twice in just a week or to have three... no... four mates.

Grabbing some tissue off the nightstand, I blew my nose and wiped my tears. I needed to be strong. If not for myself, then for the three men who might be hurt or worse. If Dante was willing to throw a bound woman in the river, what else was he capable of?

I'd go to Cole's, fight Dante, and take back what was mine. There was no other choice. My wolf rose up inside me, and for once, I didn't push her back. We'd do this together.

Chapter Three

Silas

Pulling into the lot outside the den, I finally let my shoulders relax. Cole was being taken care of for the time being, and all I could think about was getting back to my mate.

I'd been ready for an epic throwdown that was a long time coming, but then Dante had stopped my envoy not far from the main house and den.

"Silas, what brings you to my territory?" Dante stood in the middle of the gravel road, his arms folded across his chest.

I didn't know him well, just from word of mouth from my betas. They said he was a hard ass and a traditionalist, something Cole was not. I'd heard Cole had let the true omega's twin take her place. That was unheard of and even more reason to make my move. He was making bad decisions and had nearly killed my bunny.

"I'm here to speak with your alpha." I got off my bike because he wasn't moving, and I'd probably have to put him on his back. He was about the same size as me, but I knew I was the stronger wolf.

I should have done this a long time ago, but there had still been a tiny part of me that hoped Cole's father would admit to killing Baron and we'd reconcile. That didn't seem like it was going to happen, so I had to stand my ground in the name of my father.

Bone and Rover got off their bikes and cracked their knuckles in warning as I stepped closer.

"Ah,myalpha?" He laughed. "Cole is no longer the alpha, I am."

I bit the inside of my cheek to keep myself from reacting. "Excuse me? Since when?"

"Since yesterday. I have a lot to take care of, so if you and your men don't mind, we can arrange a meeting for next week to discuss reconciling our differences." He reached behind him, and when his hand fell back to his side, he had a gun.

I quickly drew mine, pointing it at Dante's chest. He did the same, and my betas stepped forward, but I told them to stand back using our connection.

"Is Cole dead?" As much as I hated him, my heart stuttered to a stop as I waited for an answer.

"No, but he's being taken care of." Dante cocked his head to the side. "Why are you here?"

I narrowed my eyes. "He hurt something of mine."

"I see." He rubbed his jaw with his free hand and seemed to think a little too hard about what to say. "If he's still alive in a week, we can discuss you taking a stab at him."

I didn't like the vibes this guy was sending off, and I stepped forward, staring him down. There was no doubt in my mind that if I challenged him right here and now he'd fail... except putting guns in the equation might change things a bit.

He lowered his gun and stuck out his hand. I looked at his outstretched hand for a moment before lowering my gun and taking it, squeezing hard enough to break human bones. We weren't human, though.

"I'll be seeing you again, Dante."

I walked back to my bike and got on, my betas following my lead.

I followedmy betas and enforcers inside the den. Most of my men were working their nine to fives, so I'd gone with the gun half-cocked. I desperately needed to work on my impulsivity because if Dante had been trigger happy, someone could have been injured.

Cole would get what was coming to him in due time.

"Alpha," Carly purred, putting herself in my face as soon as I was in the door. Her hand slid up my chest and wound around to the back of my neck. "I'm so glad you're okay."
