"You’ll pay for that." He charged at me, and I squealed, turning to run.
I didn't make it very far before I was tackled into the snow, the cold fluff hitting me from all sides and Silas’s warm body pressing into mine. My laughter quickly faded as his hot breath fanned against my ear.
“I should spank your ass for that.” It sounded like a promise, and I had the undeniable urge to squeeze my thighs together as my body became hyperaware that his dick was pressed against my ass. “Would you like that?”
His question ended on a high note as he was ripped off me.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Xander's voice boomed in the silence. “You could have hurt her!”
I sat up, wiping snow off my face. “I’m fine. He was just messing around.”
Xander had Silas by the throat, and with inhuman strength, picked him up and slammed him into the front of the helicopter. Silas was trying to get free, but Xander was stronger than he looked.
“Xander, stop.” Eli pulled at his arm, but Xander was focused on Silas.
The meanest growl I'd ever heard came from Xander, and then he threw Silas to the ground. Xander walked away from us, his back heaving. Eli followed but stayed a safe distance away.
"Always causing problems." Cole made a tsking sound and reached out to help me up. "Xander was a beta in his old pack, maybe he'd be an alpha here in your lame-"
"That's enough." An unfamiliar raspy voice came from the doorway of the building.
There was an old man standing there, his hair cut short and silver with age and a mean scowl on his face.
I brushed the snow from my clothes and watched him carefully as Silas's men parted for him to come out into the snow. His eyes were the same blue as Silas's. It couldn't be his father though; he was much older than the man in the picture had been.
"Pops, we were just having some fun." Silas stood up and shook off all the snow that was covering him before rubbing his throat.
"Boy, don't you lie to me. You've been picking fights since the day you were born." The man looked around at us. His eyes stopped on me and a flicker of something was gone before I could name it. "Stop acting like children and get your asses inside."
Silas let out a defeated breath of air and followed him in without a word.
I looked back at Eli and Xander, Eli motioning for us to leave them. Cole cleared his throat. "Let's go inside. Eli will take care of Xander."
"Maybe we should..." I wanted to take care of Xander.
"It's Eli's job to make sure the pack is mentally healthy." He put his arm around my shoulder and started leading me inside.
"Who was that old man?" I whispered as we approached the door. "He was kind of scary."
"Silas's grandfather."
Maybe he'd have some answers to who my father was.
Chapter Nine
Xander
Ihad thought I was going to be okay until I stepped foot in the helicopter. The memories had flooded back like someone was shooting off an assault rifle, giving me no chance to escape. They'd taken everything from me, and they probably wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
If they ever found me… I wasn’t sure I would survive another day of their torture.
Ivy had distracted me enough, but then the asshole who looked like he wanted to be onSons of Anarchytackled my girl, and I lost it.
I had to protect her, to prove to her that I could take care of her if they ever came.
The East Arbor Pack was bigger than my own, or what used to be my own. I was certain they were all dead by now. But I wasn't one hundred percent sure. One day I had been lying in my own filth, and the next I was in the middle of a forest. I was so disoriented I just started walking and eventually ended up in California.
But maybe I had been in California all along.
