"Oh, yes, yes!" My orgasm slammed into me as I cried out. I clenched around him as his thrusts stuttered and his hot release filled me.

My body was riddled with aftershocks as he pulled out and spun me around to kiss me. His hands came to the sides of my face, and he pulled away and looked into my eyes. "That was... wow."

I wasn't sure what had come over me. Usually, I wasn't so demanding during sex, but it felt right. "I'm sorry if I was bossy."

"Don't apologize." He grabbed the loofah and squirted some of my body wash on it. "I liked it... a lot."

I closed my eyes as he began washing me. I could get used to this.

Chapter Nineteen

Ivy

When we went downstairs, everyone was outside on the deck and lawn where several heaters and fire pits were going. There were about twenty men and women gathered around in small groups, talking, laughing, and drinking. Most were Cole's betas and higher-ranking wolves. The pack was large, and I was glad it wasn't a major wolf rager after being put through the wringer at the meeting.

I was just about to turn back to grab a jacket when Cole walked out holding one of his in his hands. "Thank you." Our fingers brushed and his hand lingered for a moment before he walked over to a chair and climbed up on it.

It was a sight to behold as all conversations came to a stop and everyone turned in his direction. My wolf was pleased, and I stood a little taller knowing he was mine. Damn, it was a weird feeling having animal thoughts right along with my own.

I slipped on the jacket, closing my eyes and breathing in Cole's rich masculine scent. He was going to have to fight me to get his jacket back.

Eli came and stood next to me, handing me a bottle of beer. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me close, kissing my temple.

“Tonight, we welcome Ivy to our pack.” Cole's eyes found mine, and I stared back, butterflies assaulting my insides. “May her wolf and human find a safe place here with us... and with me.” He tilted his head back and howled.

The others followed, and then everyone clinked beers and chugged them. I stifled a laugh before chugging my own. I didn't even know where to begin when trying to howl. I'd probably sound like a drowning cat trying to.

The evening passed in a blur, most of my time spent around a firepit. Dante didn't come near me—it surprised me he even attended—but Manny was quite pleasant despite our run-in the night before.

After most of the guests left for the night, there were six of us gathered closely in chairs around a firepit. Eli had stayed close to me most of the night, but Cole seemed distant.

“When are we going to get some ink on you, Ivy?” Manny was across from me and took the last drink of his beer before throwing it into a bin.

“Excuse me?” I looked at him through the flames, and a grin spread across his face at my expression. "There will be no ink on this virgin skin."

"Virgin skin, eh? Didn’t you know? Part of the initiation process is to get Cole’s name tattooed on your ass.” Laughter broke out around the circle.

“Over my dead body.” I snorted at my choice of words and took a long drink from my beer. That had to be what triggered me to shift and had saved my life; the thought was sobering.

“Most of us get our wolf tattooed on our back,” Manny said and then stood. “Let me know and we’ll fire up my gun.” He rubbed his hands together. “I’m going to take off.” Two others followed his lead, leaving me alone with Cole and Eli.

Cole was quiet, and I kept stealing glances at him, trying to figure him out. He had seemed chatty all night, laughing and joking with everyone else. As soon as we were in the same conversation zone, he had shut down. It was driving me mad that one minute he was buried inside me and the next he was cold. It was like he had man PMS.

Eli went inside the house to clean up the kitchen, and I couldn't stand the silence any longer. "Is there a problem, Cole?" Might as well get it over with instead of letting it fester. I picked up a few abandoned half-full beer bottles and dumped them over the railing.

"No." He turned off a heater, his back to me, and sighed. "My instinct is to rip out Eli's throat for having his hand in your back pocket and for marking you with his scent."

Biting back a laugh at themarking you with his scentcomment, I threw the empty bottles into the recycling bin. "I thought you were fine with it."

"I want to be fine with it. Eli is my best friend." He stepped in front of me as I tried to move past him to grab more bottles. "You also challenged my beta yet again."

I crossed my arms. "I won't be bullied. Your pack members didn't seem to mind me standing up to him. They voted for me to stay."

"The pack members see it as your wolf finding her place. Dante saw it as an alpha letting a woman call the shots. He is traditional in his beliefs on wolf etiquette." Cole stepped forward and wrapped his arms around me, putting his nose in my hair and inhaling. He shuddered, and his arms tightened around me.

He was like a furnace, and I snuggled in against him as we stood on the dimly lit deck. "And what do you see it as?"

"I could tell you how my wolf sees it, but that would just piss you off. We sometimes have different opinions that make me moody." He rubbed his cheek against the side of my head, and as animalistic as the gesture was, I enjoyed it. "I just don't want you to pick a fight you can't win."
