I set Sara down next to her prosthetic and she shifted while laughing. "It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm sad I didn't get it on video."

Ivy grabbed my arm as I went to walk in and turned me around. My eyes widened as she put her hand on my jaw and stroked it. "You wolves really need to work on your new wolf bedside manner. I'm sorry for whacking you with my hammer."

"I... uh... yeah." I was speechless as her warm hand caressed my jaw. Did she know we were mates? "It's fine. My jaw. My jaw is fine."

"Oh, for fuck's sake." Sara stood. "Let's get you a robe or something."

"Clothes would be nice." Ivy took a blanket off the couch as soon as we were inside.

"Sara already put clothes back at my place for you. She is much smaller than you, so she got some from the other females until we can get your clothes." Cole was already waiting by the front door with his arms crossed over his chest.

Ivy grabbed the robe Sara brought out from her bedroom. "I'm going to pretend you didn't mean that like it sounded."

"What?" Cole could be dense sometimes.

"Sara is so much smaller than me." Her eyes twinkled as she teased him.

"I just meant..." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Let's go."

She took the offered flip flops and followed Cole out of the house.

"I'll be home soon." I needed to talk to Sara about my feelings and what I should do with them.

After I shut the door, I turned back to a smirking Sara who threw a pair of shorts at me. "I've never seen either of you get so flustered over a girl."

"She's my mate, Sara." I pulled on my shorts. "My wolf is sure of it."

Her eyes widened, and she sat down heavily. "We don't have mates."

I headed to the liquor cabinet and pulled out a bottle of whiskey. I wasn't a big drinker, but the realization that my feelings were an anomaly was a punch to the gut. She was different too, and not knowing anything about her put me on edge.

I took a swig and cringed as it burned going down. "I don't know what to do."

"Well, that's clear." Sara stood and snatched the bottle from me, putting it back in the cabinet. "If she really is your mate, you should act sooner rather than later. Cole had hearts in his eyes, and he never gets hearts in his eyes."

I rolled my eyes. "I don't think so. He's probably going to want to lock her in the basement again."

Sara snorted. "Men. You're so oblivious." She pulled me to the couch, and we sat down. "He was gentle with her, let her talk shit about him, and when she wasn't paying attention, he looked at her like he would move mountains for her."

"What am I supposed to do?" Despite being twenty-five, my experience with women was subpar. It wasn’t that I'd purposely become an eternal bachelor, but no female wanted the one and only omega of the pack as a significant other. Even if I was attractive, smart, funny, and loving.

Which was exactly why I had dated a human for a few months on the downlow.

Sara got a dreamy look on her face. "What you do is woo her."

Chapter Eleven

Ivy

As we walked back to Cole's house, I couldn’t help but look at his muscular ass and hamstrings. Holy cheese balls, I could bounce a quarter off those tight muscles. I'd always been a sucker for a man that took squats and deadlifts seriously.

His back was covered with a portrait of what I assumed was his wolf. It certainly looked like it. It was like he was watching me. It didn't escape my attention that he probably could have grabbed something to wrap around his waist, yet he hadn't. He wanted me to see his body.

Or it was like he said... they were used to being naked.

Why did the completely delicious ones have to be such jerks? It was a sick joke on poor women like me.

I needed to focus. Ogling the enemy was not a good idea. I had to learn about being a wolf as quickly as possible and then get the hell out of Dodge.
