“Dante."Cole’s voice popped into my head and was so faint I barely heard it.
I pushed away from Eli, I almost threw myself across him, but Eli wrapped his arms around me from behind. "What are you doing?"
"He said Dante in my head." I wanted to cry but held myself together. "But that's it."
Eli stepped around me and stroked the side of Cole's head. "Alpha, what happened? Do you know who did this?"
"Dante."His voice was a little stronger and his wolf's feet twitched how dog's often do when they have dreams."Dante."
"He keeps repeating Dante." I went to the other side of the table. "Cole, what about Dante? Do you want us to get him?"
There was no response, and I headed for the door.
"Where are you going?" Eli started to follow me and I stopped him. "You stay here and I'll go find Dante."
“I know nothing about treatment for wolves. What if he needs you?" I made it to the stairs. "I'll be right back. He won't be too hard to find, right?"
Eli sighed. "Can you check on Xander too?"
I gave him a peck on the cheek. "I will."
Running up the stairs, I was hopeful that Cole would wake up soon. The fact he was asking for Dante was a good sign.
As soon as I shut the door, something slammed into my side, knocking me down the hall toward the living room. Groaning, I tried to sit up, but my side hurt too much.
"Tie her up."
Dante.
My body went through the shift faster than it ever had before. My side still hurt, but it was less painful in my wolf form. I saw the benefits to staying that way if I needed to heal.
Dante locked the door to the basement. If Eli couldn't get through, that might be a good thing because there were two other giant guys besides Dante. I vaguely recognized them from seeing them in the den the night of the meeting.
A whimper came from the other side of the couch. Mate. If I wasn't sure before about Xander being my mate, I was now. He was tied up in his wolf form, including a muzzle over his mouth.
I growled at the approaching men and backed up toward the front door. How I was going to get it open and get out was unclear, but I wasn't foolish enough to think I could fight off three men.
"Aw, the poor little wolf is scared," Dante taunted, something gripped in his hand that looked like an EpiPen. Shit. That was a tranquilizer. "I'm the alpha now, bitch."
It happened fast.
One second I was jumping for the door, attempting to send a warning to Cole and Eli to run, and the next, heat exploded across my back and then numbness.
My body hit the floor and my eyes had a difficult time adjusting to see straight. The outlines of three figures stood over me. One squatted down, slipping something over my mouth.
"Such a shame we had to end on these terms."
I managed a growl, and he threw his head back and laughed. That was the last sound I heard before passing out.
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Eli
How I got so lucky to have Ivy as a mate was beyond my comprehension. I felt unworthy of her, and not just because I was an omega. She had opened her heart to us when she could have easily shut us out.
I sat down in the chair Ivy had vacated and slouched, my arms crossed. How did someone manage to get far enough into our territory without being detected? Not only that, but ambush Cole and nearly kill him?
Dante was in charge of ensuring our perimeter was secure with patrols and checking the fencing. Maybe there was a downed section of fence that needed repair.
